IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-BELLS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 142,412, dated September 2, 1873; application filed March 20, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. PRESTON, of Roxbury, in the county of Delaware and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bell-Hammers; and I do hereby declare that the followin g is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference bein ghad to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to door or pull bells; and it consists in a twin or double hammer cast with or attached to the cylinder or tumbler of a door-bell, said cylinder or tumbler to be cast in any form or size, and to be provided with stops to operate in connection with stops situated on the base of said door-bell, as will be more fully hereinafter set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the artto which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is an interior view of a door-bell,
showing my improvement; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view, showing a modification of the' 1872, the cylinder or tumbler being placed on a stud, d, as shown. The cylinder (3 may be constructed of any form and of any size desired, and has a twin or double hammer, D, either cast with or attached to it in any suitable manner.
