Description

UNITED STATES JHN L. BRYANT, OFAHILLSDALE, MICHIGAN.
DRILL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 226,043, dated March 30, 1880.
Application filed November 15, 1879.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I,JOHN L. BRYANT, of Hillsdale, in the county of Hillsdale and State of Michigan, have invented an Improvement in Drills, of which the following is a specication.
The nature of this invention relates to a certain new and novel construction of a drill and frame, whereby7 the same can readily be applied to the article to be drilled.
The invention consists in the peculiar construction and combination of the various parts, all as more fully hereinafter set forth.
Referring to the drawings, Figure lis aperspective view. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, A represents a Asuitable frame, the two portions of which are pivoted together, as at a. Through the head A' of the frame is tapped a hollow screw, B, upon the upper end of which is secured a handwheel, C.
D is a drillstock placed through the hollow screw B, being held in placed by a screw or pin, Z1, passing through the hand-wheel C be found adaptable to many points where the ordinary drill could not be used.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A drilling-machine wherein are combined the pivoted frame A, the hollow screw B, and the drill-stock D, held in place by pin b, passing through the hollow screw B and thehandwheel, and the spring latch-bar F, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
JOHN L. BRYANT.
