useful Improvements in Baskets, of which the following is a specification.
rllhis invention relates to baskets or receptacles and an obj ect of the invention is to provide a sheet metal receptacle particularly designed for use as a clothes basket when hanging up clothes to dry or taking th'em down after drying, as a tub for washing clothes, bath tub for children or analogous uses.
Another object of the invention is to provide a sheet metal basket or receptacle as specified which is provided with a cover to protect the contents .of the basket from dust, dirt, or other foreign matter and also to reinforce the sides of the basket and cover by ribs which are struck from the sides and top respectively.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following description and in the ac companying drawing wherein:
Fig. l is a side elevation of the improved basket.
Fig. 2 is a top plan of the basket with the cover removed.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal vertical section through the basket.
Fig. t is a top plan of the cover of the basket.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged detail section through one corner of the basket and taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 3.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the body l of the basket is constructed of sheet metal treated to prevent rusting thereof, and it is preferably stamped from Specification of Letters Patent.

A cover 4L for the body 1 is provided which cover is also constructed of sheet metal and is bent back upon itself at its edge as at 5 to provide an annular shoulder for engagement with the rolled edge 2 of the body 1` and also to provide a flange 6 for frictional `engagement with the inner surface of the sides of the body l. rlhe flange 6 of the cover l is provided with outstruck reinforcing ribs 7 for registration with the ribs 3 of the body l and the cover 4 is also provided with outstruck ribs or corrugations 8 which radiate from the center of the cover and a handle 9 is attached to the outer surface of the cover at its center.
It is, of course, to be understood that the invention may be constructed in various other manners and the parts associatedin different relations and, therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claim hereunto appended.

As a new article of manufacture, an oval basket constructed of sheet metal and having outstruck reinforcing ribs at each end equidistant of the center and extending through the full height of the basket, a cover and outstruck ribs radiating from the axis of said cover and adapted to register with the ribs on said basket.
