M.KYLAR WASHTUB Filed Oct. 7. 1922 Marie Kylar INVENTOR ATTORN EY Patented Feb. 12, i924.
UNITED, STATES] MARIE YKYLAR, or CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY.
; WASHTUB.
Application filed October 7, 1922. Serial No. 593,048.
To all whom it may concern. I
Be it known that I, Mrs. MARIE KYLAR, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Camden, in the county of Camden and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in Washtubs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to washtubs and particularly to tubs provided with washboards as an integral part thereof, and one of the principal objects is to produce a device of this nature which shall be simple of construction, cheap to manufacture, and highly etlicient for the purpose forwhich it is designed.
Another object is to provide a receptacle under the washboard wherein may be stored the clothes line, clothes pins or any other novel construction, in combinations and arrangements of parts, the essential features 01;
which are hereinafter fully described, are
particularly pointed out in the appended claims, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improved \vashtub.
Figure 2 is a vertical section taken in line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a horizontal section taken substantially in line 33 of Figure 2.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in the several views.
Referring to the drawing in detail, 10 represents a washtub which may be of any usual and suitable construction but is preferably of galvanized iron. A piece of metal is folded so as to form upright side portions 11 and 12, and an intermediate backing-up portion 13. At the juncture of the portions 11 and 13, the metal is folded upon itself so as to form a lip 14 and groove 15; and
similarly at the line of juncture of the por-' tions 12 and 13, the metal is bent to form tion 18 and carries a cover 20 having a rolled-over edge 21 which is adapted to grip the edge of the tub to hold the cover 20 in closed position. Awashboard 22 of any suitable and desirable construction and material is removably supported in the slides 15 and 17.
While I have described what I' deem to be the most desirable embodiment of my invention, I do not limit myself to the specific details of construction of 1naterial,'nor to anything less thanthe whole of my in vention as defined in the appended claims. hat I claim 2-. p 1. A'device of the class described, comprising a metallic tub and a receptacle in' said tub formed of a single piece of metal having its bottom and side edges attached in water-tight relation to the bottom and sides of the tub, and formed with slide-ways adapted to receive the side edges of a washboard. i
- 2. A device ofthe class described, comprising a metallictub and a receptacle in said tub formed of asingle piece of metal having itsbottom and side edges attached in water-tight relation to the bottom and sides of the tub, and formed with slide-ways adapted to receive the side edges of a washboard, and a cover for said receptacle mounted at one edge on said piece of metal and having its opposite edge formed to grip the edge of the tub.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
MARIE KYLAR.
