To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, JACOB ROSKAM and RICHARD OOMS, subjects of the Queen of the Netherlands, and residents of Brooklyn, in the county of'Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in ashing-Machines, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.

This invention'relates to clothes washing machines, and. hasfor its object to provide apparatus of this kind which may be used in an ordinary stationary wash tub such as are now usually. found in dwelling houses, apartments and flats.

A special object-is to provide such apparatus as can be completely stored in the wash tub when not in use, thus savingstorage space which is a very important item particularly-in modern flats and apartments.

A further object is to simplify. the construction of the lining for the tub, whereby it may be readily and securely place. p

Another object is to provide improved means for detachably fastening the cover of the machine to the lining sectlons.

The faucets extending through openings in said back section, as presently described, hold the back section down, that is, prevents it from float ing' up under the action of the water. All the sections are preferably made of wood except the strips 7 which are of galvanized metal. v

The upper surface of the bottom section is corrugated, as at 8, and the other sections have corrugated inner surfaces 9. The back, front and end sections of the lining are further provided ranged horizontally near their upper edges to form a seat for the cover which is made in two parts 13 and l land which fits down within the upper edge portions ofsaid back, front and end sections. The two parts of the cover are detachably secured in place by sliding bolts 15carried by thevcover with cleats or flanges 12 ar and back sections, the latter extending i tub. The back section sections and adapted to engage keepers 16 on the upper edges of the front and end sections, Figs. 1, 4 and 5. The bolts may be easily withdrawn from the keepers for re-. leasing the cover when the machine'is not in use.
