Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 2'7, 1922.
Application filed March 10, 1922. Serial No. 542,702.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, CHARLES MARONA and BERT VILLIor'r, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Youngstown, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hooks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hooks, and more particularly to hooks that may be attached to a cookstove, or to a work table, or the like, used in a kitchen. The principal object is to devise adjustable hooks for the purpose of suspending cooking utensils, or other articles used about the kitchen.
Another object is to provide a secondary adjustable hook. A hook that may be positioned at varying angles from the primary hook.
A still further object is to provide means for extending said primary hooks, or shortening the reach of said hook.
The drawing illustrates the preferred embodiment of the invention. However, it is to be understood that in adapting the sameto meeting different conditions, various changes in the form, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention as claimed and set forth in the drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevation.
Figure 2 is a detail view showing the upper portion of Figure 1, front view.
Figure 3 is a detail View showing the lower portion of Figure 1 with the secondary hook in a different position than that of Figure 1.
Figure 1 is a detail view showing the top plan view of the secondary hook unattached.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following descr1ption,.and indicated in the several views of the drawing by like reference characters.
By referring to Figure 1 it will be seen the device consists of an arm 1 provided with an inturned end 2 forming one side of a gripping means for attaching to an edge of a stove or table, or the like. The other portion ofthe gripping means consists of a slidably maintained arm 3, held in position by means of a bolt 41, passing through a base member 5, and through a slot 6, and is secured by means of a butterfly nut 7.
By referring to Figures 1 and 2 it will be seen that the slidably maintained arm 3 is positioned directly under the inturned end 2. At point 8 on the arm 1 the arm is bent inwardly to point 9, and then downwardly, forming a hook 10. Centrally located between the points 8 and 9 there is an open ing 11 through which a bolt 13 passes, and also through a slotted opening 14 of the :upper end 15 of the secondary hook 16.
This secondary hook 16 may be placed at varying angles in reference to the hook 10, and may also be extended, or shortened in its reach by the movement allowed by the slot 141. When this secondary hook 16 is placed in such a position as desired, it may be securely held by tightening the butterfly nut 17 which turns down ontheend of the bolt 13.
That we claim is: r
In a device of the class described, an arm member with an inturned upper end, a slidable gripping means secured tosaid arm and directly underneath the inturned end, an inturned portion having a downwardly depending hook, a secondary hook secured to the inturned portion in a rotatable'and slidable manner, said secondary hook being secured by means of a bolt passing through c an opening in the inturned portion of said arm and through a slot in the upper end of the secondary hook member, substantially as described for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures.
CHARLES MARONA. BERT VILLIOTT.
Witnesses JOHN PRUEYEN, C. A. HARPMAN.
