Description

G. POTSTADA.
LAMP HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 21, 1919.
1,360,988. Patented Nov. 30,1920;
INVENTOR GEORGE POTS TADA.
BY My ATEY GEORGE PQTSTA, 0F OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
LAMP-HOLDER. I
' Application filed June 21,
. T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE POTSTADA, citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda, State of California, have invented a new and useful duce a folding clamp which will. be capable iron, although of course it will be apparent of being reduced to the smallest possible compass for convenience.
Another object of the invention is to produce a clamp which is capable ofbeing used on the clothing when a workman is engaged in work in a place where it-is inconvenient for him to hold the lamp by hand.
. Other objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds. a
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout, but I am aware that there may be modifications thereof.
Figure 1 is a plan view of'the complete clamp.
Fig. 2 is a ,plan view of. the clamp as it appears when folded.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the clamp as it appears in use when secured to the collar of the user. I
Fig. 4 is a perspective View of the clamp as it appearswhen secured to a piece of angle that it may be secured to any convenient object. i I
The numeral 1 indlcates aquarter circu- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 30, 1920B 1919. Serial No. 305,883. x
lar plate of wire orother material which is doubled back upon itself as indicated at 2 to produce a hook 3. Secured to the member 1 is another quarter circle 4 which is secured to said member 1', by meansof the rivet 5. The rivet 5 is loose enough so that it is possible to turn the two members 1 and 4 together in aposition indicated in Fig. 2,
thereby reducing the size of the clamp to practically one-half its size as shown in Fig. 1. In use the lamp 6 which has the socket? and cable 8 connected thereto, has its socket placed between the spring arms 1 and 4 and with the hook 3 the lamp may be hung on the coat collar as indicated in Fig. 3, or the lamp may be hung on a piece, of angle iron 9, or on any other convenient holder at will.
What I claim is as follows, but Various modifications may be made in the construction shown in the drawings and above particularly described form, within the pur- View of my invention:
1. A lamp holder comprising a pair of' pivotally connected spring clamps adapted to be turned so one nests within the other and a hook connected to one of said clamps for securing a lamp in a given position to a suitable support.
\ 2. A lamp holder comprising a pair of,
spring clamps pivotally connected to ether and adapted to be folded one. 'insi e the other and a hook connected with one of said springs for securing the clamp when opened and holding a lamp to any support.
3. A lamp holder comprising a pair of pivotally connected spring clamps adapted to be turned so one nests within the other and a spring hook secured to one of, said clamps for securing the clamp and a lamp carried thereby to any suitable support.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 10th 'day of June, A. 'D. 1919.
GEORGE ,POTSTADA.
