E. E. ETAN. CLOTHES RACK ATTACHMENT FOR BOILERS.
' APFLICAT'ION FILED JUNE 16, [920- INVENTOR.
E E'. .E'fan.
- I ATTORNEY,
UNITED STATES PATENT-"OFFICE EMIL n. ETAN, or BQZEMAN, Mo TAiIaY CLOTHES-RACK ATTACHMENT r03 BOILERS. 7
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EMIL E. ETAN, a citi-v zen of the United States, residing at Bozeman, in the county of Gallatinand State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Rack At-.
tachments for Boilers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of: the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains tomake and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in clothes rack. attachments for boilers and has for its primary object the provision of means whereby clothes may be suspendedabout a boiler so that they will Ireadily dry from the heat radiating from. said boiler. 7
Another object of this invention is the provision of an attaching member capable of double adjustment so that the device may be applied to boilers of various'sizes and which may be readily detached or removed from the boiler when desired.
A further obj eot of this invention is the provision of means for adjustably securing clothes supporting arms to said attaching member, so that the. distance between the suspended clothes may be varied and said means also being capable of permitting the arms to be positioned downwardly or parallel with the boiler when not in use, so that the device will not obstruct or take up a large space when unemployed.
A still further object of this invention is the provision of a clothes rack attachment for boilers of the abovestated character, which shall be simple, durable and efiici'ent, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the descrip' tion proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is'tobe had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which o g Figure 1 is a side elevation of a boiler illustrating a clothes rack attachment applied thereto and constructed in accordance with my invention,
Specification of team Patent. t t D -.12, :92 Application filed June 16, 1920. '4 sm-aim. 389,389.
Fig.2 is a plan View illustrating the attaching member, 7 Fig. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view illustrating. the double adjustment of the attaching member, 1
Fig. 4: is a perspective view illustrating an arm attaching clip with an arm applied thereto, I
Fig. 5 is a sectional viewof the clip. H Referring in detail to the drawing, the
member of the split type and is shaped to conform to thecontour of a boiler 2. One end of theband 1 is bent at right angles to form an ear 3 provided with an opening to receive a bolt 4 that extendsthrough an ear 5 formed on a plate 6. j The plate 6 is curved to conform to-the contour of the band or attaching member 1 and overlies the free end thereof. The plate 6 has formed on its end a right angled tongue .7 adapted to extend through any one of a plurality of slots 8 formed in the band or'attaching member 1 so that when the ears 5 and 3 are secured together by the bolt 4: which is provided with numeral 1 indicates an attaching bandfor a nut 9, the band or attaching member will I be firmly and. tightly, secured about the boiler 2. The bolt 4 extending through the ears 3 and 5 provides'one adjustment to the band or attaching member, while the tongue 7 of the plate 6 and the slots 8 provide anarmsl2 and a 'bight portion 13. The material after being bent to form the arms 12 is bent rearwardly upon said-arms and parallel with the bight'portion 13 to form ears 14 that engage the inner face of the band or attaching member 1 and cooperate with the bight portion 13 in slidably securing" the clips to said band or supportingmember.
The arms 12 are provided with 5 slots to receive the right angled portion 15 of the clothes supporting arm 11 and which has formed thereon a head 16 to prevent said right angled portion from moving downwardly through said slots. The upper face of the uppermost arm of the clip bent to form spaced flanges 17 that communicate or lead from the slotsftherein. and
lie on each side of the arm 11 so as to prevent sald arm from swinging laterally in relation to the clip when in a horizontal position thereby preventing clothes supportright angled portions 15 disposed horizontally, thereby reducing the space which the device will consume when in non-clothes supporting position.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying draw ings, it will be noted that a device has been provided which can be easily and conveniently applied to a boiler and also is capable of being applied to boilers of different sizes. Further, it is to'be noted that the arms can be'moved and supported rigidly ina horizontal positionand maybe when desired swung to a position parallel with the boiler, also that the arms may be moved inrelation to each other to permit free cir- The slots in the arms'lQ willculation between the clothes supported by said arms.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it
will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination, and arrangement of'parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim 1s:
-A clothes rack attachment comprising a band secured about a boiler, a plurality of bent upon themselves and parallel with the.
bight portion to form ears adapted to engage the inner face of the band, and clothes sup porting arms extending through the slots.
In testimony whereof'I aflix my signaturein presence of two witnesses.
