To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, M MAn'riN GoimoN and FANNIE B. GORDON, residents of Chicago, in the county of Cook, in the State of Illinois (post-ofiice adddess 2701 S. Park Ave, Chicago, 111.), citizens of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper Toilet Boxes, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is -to provide a novel construction of paper receptacle, more particularly a box, adapted for use by women as a container for face powder and jewels.

lVith this object in view, the invention resides, broadly, in a box provided with a sliding drawer containing a nested tray for holding the face powder.

More specifically, the invention resides in the structure just noted, the drawer being provided with a front panel adhesively secured thereto and so proportioned as to conceal said door when the latter is in a closed position.

The invention resides, finally, in certain structural refinements, going to make up the ultimate perfection of the device as an entirety.

The invention is graphically illustrated in the accompanying drawing, showing the preferred form of embodiment of our device, and in which like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views. Briefly described:

Figure 1 is a view, in perspective, of the box, the drawer being in closed position;

Figure 2 is a central transverse sectional view;

Figure 3 is a fragmentary detail view, in rear elevation, of the front panel of the sliding drawer; and

Figure 4 is a collective detail view, in perspective, of the tray and drawer, the tray being shown removed from the drawer.

Referring now in detail to the drawing:

1 designates a rectangular shaped box, open at one of its sides, as clearly shown in Figure 2, and preferably provided with a padded or cushioned top 2.

Adapted to he slid into and out of said box, through the open side thereof, is an opentopped drawer 3. Suitable means are provided for concealing said drawer when closed, and in this instance, we provide the rectangular front wall of said drawer with Specification of Letters Patent. patentgd June 13, 1922,

a cushioned or padded panel 4, which, as shown, is similarly rectangular, but of greater length and width than the said front wall of the drawer 3, so as to provide, as it were, a marginal flange, which, when the drawer is closed, abuts the wall of the box 1 at the open side thereof, as clearly shown in Figure 2.

The panel 4 is preferably adhesively secured to the front wall of the drawer 8.

For the convenient manipulation of the drawer 3, a ring 5 is provided, which is preferably secured to the panel 4 by means of a ribbon or tape 6, which, as shown, is looped around the ring 5, and the overlapping portions of such ribbon passed through an opening or slit 7 in the panel, and the terminals of said ribbon bent in opposite directions flatly against the inner surface of the padded or cushioned panel 4. The same adhesive which secures the panel 4 to the front wall of the drawer 3 secures the tape terminals firmly betweenthe panel and the front wall of the drawer 3, so that the tape is held against accidental displacement and the ring 5 securely retained on the panel 4.

Adapted to be nested within the drawer 3 is an openended tray 8, preferably provided with a paper wrapper 9, the upper portions thereof forming flaps 10 which are folded over the top of the tray, as shown in Figures 2 and 4, so as to form a covering for the powder within the tray, the powder being shown in Figure 2. As is also shown in Figure 2, the tray 8 is of a size to fit snugly within the drawer 3.

When the powder within the tray 8 is entirely consumed, the tray may be removed from the drawer and discarded, and the drawer 3 then used to hold ewels or the like.

In practice, the box 1 and the panel 4 are exterior-1y attractively and decoratively embellished with an artistic printed design in colors, so that the box is extremely ornamental in appearance, as well as being utilitarian.

It will now be seen that we have provided a toilet box, which is simple in construction and which is most efficient for the purposes intended.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim to be new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A paper toilet box having an openside, a drawer slidable into and out of said box, a

removable tray within said drawer, a panel disposed against the front Wall of said drawer and extending beyond the edges thereof to conceal said draw er- When the latter is in Closed position, a pull-ring for said drawer, a ring-securing tape looped around said ring and extending through said panel,

and adhesive means for securing said tape and said panel to the front Wall of said drawer.
