Description

Nov. 13, 1928. 1,691,781 N. s. ME YER PACKAGE Filed March 13, 1926 v I gnucwto'c Nathan SMeyer' Patented Nov. 13,1928.
UNITED era-"r reign NATHAN S. lfiEYER oF NEW YORK, N. Y.
ACKAGE.
Application filed March 13, 1926. Serial No. 94,611.
My said invention relates to a package intended primarily-for use in transportation of buttons, the appearance of which is easily marred, such as military and other embossed or highly polished buttons, and it is an ob ject of the same to provide a package of this character'aifording ready means of display of the contents but protecting them from all contact with extraneous objects while in process of transportation or in storage.
Referring to the accompanying drawings which are made a part hereof and on which similar reference characters indicate. similar parts,
Fig. 1 is a perspective of my device in open position, and p v Fig. 2, a transverse section of the same 1n closed position.
In the drawings reference character 10 indicates a flat portion of a sheet of cardboard or similar material which is so folded that the part 10 forms the bottom of a container for buttons. This container has side portions 11 and 12, and a top 13 with a flap 1 1 formed integrally with and connected directly to the side 11, said flap having a tongue-portion 15 engageable in a slit in the bottom at 16 to hold the package securely closed. The bottom has integral laterally projecting portions 17 and 18 forming the ends of the device With creases providing tabs 19 and 20 which fold under the top 13 when the container is closed.
A shelf portion 21 is connected by means of an intermediate spacer strip 11 with the bot tom 10 and this shelf as here shown is co-ezrtensive with the bottom 10 and the top 13, all parts of the container being stamped or cut out of a single piece of cardboard and creased at appropriate places for convenient folding. The shelf is provided with slots 22 of conventional form for receiving the shanks of buttons 28 which are held inplaee by clips 24.
It will be seen from the foregoing description that my device makes a package which ,tory to further transportation or storage.
The tongue portion 15 may be set to rest on the bottom portion near the crease oining the bottom 10 and spacer. Theshelf portion 21 may then he leaned back to rest against'the outer side of the flapancl the edge of thetop 13.
articles which are attached thereto.
" lit will be obvious to those skilled in the artt-hat various changes may be made in my device without departing from-the spirit of the invention and therefore I do not limit myself to what is shown inthe drawings and described in the specification but only as inclicated in the appended claim.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A container and lisplay box for buttons comprising a strip of card board or the like foldable to fornr a closed box-like container having integral top, bottom, side and end walls with an integral spacer strip and a pere forated button supporting shelf held by said When in this position the shelf provides a an attractive dlsplay for the buttons or other strip between the top and bottom 'of thecontainer, the bottom being slitted and the top' havin a flap adapted tobe folded under the bottom with a tongue engaging in said slit,
the shelf being adapted also to rest against NATHAN S.
