VANITY CASE AND BOUQUET HOLDER.
Application filed March 13, 1922.
To alZwJwmitmayconoern:
c it known that I, SYDNEY; B. WERT- HEIMER, a citizen of theUnited States of America, and resident of Brooklyn. in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Vanity Case and Bouquet Holder, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in devices adapted for the convenience and uses of women. It in combination with a bouquet holder or dress shield. The article may be carried in the hand by a suitable stem or it may be sooured to the corsage of the ladys dress by suitable means.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a side elevation in perspective;
Figure 2 is a rear elevation;
Figure 3 is a side elevation; and
Figure 4 is a rear elevation.
Referring to the drawings, the parts are designated by numerals, like numerals referring to like parts.
1 is a sheet of suitable material such as cardboard of suitable stiffness and flexibility with an oval body portion as 2 with a stem protruding therefrom as 3. I may decorate the periphery of the body portion 2 by ruflledi' ornamentation which is diagrammatically illustated as 4:. 5 is a flap flexibly secured to the body portion 1 at 6. 7, 7 are the parts of a snap fastener adapted to secure the flap 5 to the body portion 1 and to release the same at pleasure. Sis a bouquet and 9 the stem thereof, while 10 is a form of pin adapted to secure the stem of the bouquet to the stem 3. Itwill be understood that this pin 10 may also embrace a portion of the the dress or corsage of the wearer so as to hold the same in position. In Figs. 3 and 4, I have illustrated an alternate form of construction wherein I have extended the base of the flap 5 so as to form a pocketbook of greater comprehensive area than that shown in Fig. 1. In the second form of construction I may surround the flap 5 with a suitable metallic framework as 11, hinged at 12, and clasped at 13, with a dependent pouch as 14. I may also 1ncorporate between the walls of the pocket opening an accordion pleated section at 15 to make the pocket more secure, and this Specification of Letters Patent.
Figure 1 as in thatshown in Figure 3.
comprises a vanity case Patented June 6, 1922. Serial No. 543,165.
may be done aswell in the form shown in 1 .lVithin the pocket formed by the body portion 2 and the flap 5 may be placed or contained small toilet articles such as a mirror, powder puff, etc, as shown at 16 and the pocket may also be used as a receptacle for money, tickets or other articles for which such a receptacle would be adaptable.
As previously stated, the invention is susceptible of use either to be held in the hand by the stem, or it may be secured to the corsage, and in this case the body portion 2 and stem portion 3 operate to protect the dress of the wearer against any moisture or other effect of the bouquet. In either case there is easy access to the pocket formed by the flap 5.
I have illustrated the flap 5. as being on the opposite side of the main body 1 from the bouquet, but my invention would be equally useful and-adaptable for the purposes intended should the flap be on the same side as the bouquet.
I prefer to cover the body portion 2 and the stem 3 and flap 5 with suitable textile material of an ornamental nature, and such textile material may form the flexible con nection between the flap 5 and the body portion 1 as at the point 6.
It is to be understood that I may form the body portion and stem of two strips of cardboard pasted or otherwise suitably secured together up to the central part of the body portion and thereat laterally crease one of said strips to form the flap.
What I claim is:
1. A vanitv case and bouquet holder comprising a sheet of suitable material formed with a body portion and a protruding stem portion or handle, in combination with a pocket flap flexibly connected with said body portion at one edge with means associated with said body portion and with said flap to clasp the same together when said flap is closed upon the body portion or to release the same at pleasure.
2. A vanity case and bouquet holder comprising a sheet of suitable material formed with a body portion and a protruding stem portion or handle, in combination with a pocket fiap flexibly connected with said body portion at one edge with means associated with said body portion and with said flap to clasp the same together when said flap is closed upon the body portion or to with means to the stern of a release the same at pleasure, secure said stem portion and bouquet to a ladys dress.
3. A vanity case and bouquet holder formed from a sheet of stiff cardboard or similar material, comprising a body :portion of oval form and a stern portion protruding therefrom, the periphery of said body portion being adapted to be made ornate, a flap secured to said body portion by a flexible connection, said body portion and stem and flap being covered by a textile material,
