barren stares earner QEF-Fififi- WALTER M. BRADLEY, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUI' To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WALTER M. BRADLEY, a citizen of the United States, residingiat New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Aerial Spinning Toys; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of' reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent, in'- 151g. 1 a side view of an aerial spinning toy constructed in accordance with my "invention. 7
Fig. 2 a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. I. I
Fig.3 a side View illustrating a form of the weight-members.
Fig. 4 a side view illustrating another form of vane-members and also illustrating another manner of securing the weight thereto.
This invention relates to improvement in aerial spinning toys, the. object of the invenmodified tion being to provide a'toy which-may be.
thrown into the air without mechanical means and which, in descending, Wlll'SPlll so as to slowly fall to the ground, and the invention consists in the construction-as here inatter' described and par icularly recited in the claims.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a substantiallyfiat vane 5 formed from flexible material, such as celluloid, paper, or other suitable material, and which, in form, simulates that oi? a 'maple'seed pod. This vane is weighted at one end byapplying stripes of metal (3 and T to opposite sides, the upper edges of the strips following the contour of the vane, to which they may be secured by AERIAL SPINNING- TOY.

eyelets 8, or otherwise. Instead of forming I I the weight from strips of metal, they may consist of wires 9 coiled at their butt ends 10 to give the necessary weight and provided at their outer ends with eyes 11, by which the weights are secured to the vane by rivets. 12,.
or, if preferred, the'wire weights maybe sccured to the vane by means of a strip of fabric 13, which is folded'over theweight and attached to the sides of the vane, as
shown in Fig. 4. of the drawings, which into 'the 'air, and as. they descend they willassume a substantially horizontal position.
and owing to the formation of the weight and the flexibility of'the vane, will spin and slowly descend in a spiral path.
Iclaima 1. A spiral spinning toy, comprising v a substantially flat flexible vane and a weight applied to the butt end thereof. 2. A spiral spinning toy, comprising-a substantially flat flexible vane "and weights thereof. 1
3. A spiral spinning toy, comprising a Y flexible vane and weights, said weights projecting forward from the butt end, and of less area at the forward'end than at the butt. r l
I In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification in the presence of; two sub scribing witnesses.
