IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-COR D FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 141,050, dated July 22, 2873; application filed t February 28,1873.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, HoRAoE HARRIs, of Newark, and F EDo. HEWITT, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, have invented a certain Device known as a Sash-Cord Fastener, of which the following is a specification:
Our invention consists in a metal piece, a, through which is a tapering hole, 0, into which is passed the sash-cord b, and the cord is held in position by a wedge, c.
The cord, having been previously put in the slot and hole in the edge of the sash d, is now drawn up, and the metal piece drops into a hole, g, in the edge of the sash, made the same as if to receive the ordinary knot, and holds the cord positive.
The wedge is made with a serrated edge, i,
coming next to the cord, and a projection, 02, on the lower end outside, to prevent the possibility of the cord slipping or the wedge being drawn through.
A serrated cam may be used across the lowcr end of the hole in place of the Wedge, at the option of the manufacturer.
We claiin As a new article of manufacture, the metal piecea with the tapering hole 0, and the wedge c with the serrated edge 6, and the knob a, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
. HORACE HARRIS.
