UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE.
WILLIAM PATTERSON, OF ONEONTA, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE SHELVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No- 140,'7S@, dated July 15, 1873; applicationfiled December 6, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that-I, WILLIAM PATTERsoN,
of Oneonta, in the county of Otsego and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Stove-Shelves, of which the following is a specification:
This invention consists in the peculiar construction of the attachments or supports of the stove-shelf and the mode of fastening the whole to the stove-pipe.
Figure l is a plan of the stove-pipe with the shelves attached, showing the shelves in different positions. Fig. 2 is aside elevation of the pipe with the attachments orsupports fastened thereto by a single wire. Fig. .3 shows the pipe and one support. Fig. 4 shows the under side of the shelf.
The shelf Sis made as thin and light as possible-somewhat thicker at c, where it rests upon the band I) when attached to the stove-pipe. The smaller end is perforated at e so as to receive the pivot 10 on the under side of the brace T,- and, when placed in its proper place, the shelf rests upon the band 22 of the support or attachment A. The support or attaohmentA consists of a concave plate, to which is attached the band I), brace r, and pivot 10, and isheld firmly against the pipe D by the wire W-the wire W being fastened by means of an eye in one end and a hook at the other end. The shelf or shelves are easily detached, and can also be swung around outof the way. The two shelves may be used separately or together.
That I claim as my invention, is-
The arrangement and combination of the supports A A, shelves S S, and wire W, substantially as shown and described.
WILLIAM PATTERSON.
