IMPRovEMENT IN NEEDLE-cusHioNs.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,609, dated July 8, 1873 application filed April 15, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, WASHINGTON H. BIX- LER, of Easton, in the county of Northampton and 'State of Pennsylvania, have invented a N eedle-Gushion to be attached to a threadspool; and I do hereby declare that the'following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had'to the accompanying drawings making part of this specification- Figures 1 and 2, respectively, being front and back views of the needlefcushion; and Fig. 3, la central vlon'git'udinal section of a threadspool, showing the needle-cushion vattached thereto; Figs. 4 and 5, respectively,

The naturel of my invention consists in, a

constructed and arranged that when it is attached to the spool the needles may enter the central hole of the spool, itbeing capable of holding one or several needles at once. I propose to eonstructthe needle-cushion and to attach it to a thread-spool in various ways; and I will proceed to describe the s'aine by reference to the drawing. Y

Thus, in Figs. 1 and 2 the needle-cushion A consists ofa hollow metallic case, a, stuffed paste-board disk, c, by which it is `pasted'to theend of athread-spooL-B, as shown in Fig. f

In Figs. 7 and 8 instead of a metallic case the stuffing or body b of the cushion is simply pasted or otherwise secured between two thicknesses, h i, oi' paper or pasteboard, one of which is pasted to the end of the spool. This is a very cheap mode of constructing and applying the invention, and is suitable for permanent attachment to .the-spool by the l manufacturer.

Other modifi-cations of construction, such as stili' cloth, one or more thicknesses, with or Without intermedia-te stufIiHg, maybe employed. f

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. 'A needlecushion, A, constructed for attachment to a thread-spool, substantially in the manner herein specified.

2. A needle-cushion,- A, combinednith a thread-spool, substantially as described, and
