Description

UNITED STATES.
HAEEY .'r. WALLACE, or' cLAEKsBUEG, WEST VIRGINIA.`
DRAIN BOARD.
Application filedl March 1G, 1921.
To all lwhom t may concern:
Be it known that I-IARRY J. WALLACE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clarksburg, in the county of Harrison and State of West Virginia, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drain Boards, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in drain boards for sinks, and the primary object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be quickly and readil applied to any sink now in use or remove when desired.
It is a further object of my invention to provide such a device as may be purchased at a very low cost, one which can easily be applied to a sink not provided with a drain board and one which will enable the user to remove the same at will, affording it in compact form to be placed out of sight when desired. Y
A further object of the invention resides in providing a drain board which owhen applied will be equally as firm and substantial in use and appearance as those permanently applied to the sink.
Still another object resides in providing a device which is simple and durable in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and one which will be very efiicient and useful in operation. Y
With these and other objects in view my invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claims.
In the accompanying drawing- Figure l is a side elevation of the drain board showing'it applied to a sink which is in section,
Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view showing the parts in outspread position, and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the bracket or shoe and bolt.
In describing the invention I shall refer to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which l designates a kitchen sink of the usual or specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 7, 1922. Serial No. 452,737.
any preferred type, the sides and ends of which are beaded at their upper edges as s hogvn at 2, as in the usual construction of sin s.
My invention includes a board of any presink and hingedly secured to the under faceY of the board 3 adjacent the opposite end is a leg or brace 5. This leg or brace is of a length to permit of the free end abutting and resting against the side or end wall of the sink proper, and secured to the under face of the board 3 about midway of its ends is a U-shaped adjusting shoe or bracket 6. The leg or brace 5 is designed to pro'ect through this shoe or bracket 6 and a bolt 7 which projects through the aligning openings 8 in the arms of this bracket is adapted to receive the leg or'brace 5 thereon when the device is set up for use.
Thus the drain board is gripped against the beaded edge of the sink bythe holders 4 and held in position by the leg or brace 5 which abuts the side or end wall of the sink and rests upon the bolt 7 extended `through the arms of the bracket or shoe 6.
l From the lforegoing description of the construction of my improved invention, the operation thereof will be understood, and it will be seen that I have provided a simple, inexpensive and efficient means for carrying out the objects of the invention.
While I have particularly described the elements best adapted to perform the function set forth, it is obvious that various 'changes in form, proportion, and in the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the principles ofthe invention.
Having thus described my invention, what Y I claim is Y l. In combination with a sink, of a board, arcuate holders thereon engaging the edge of one wall of the sink, a pivoted brace carried at the opposite end of the board and adapted ed to have its free end abut the Wall of said Y sink, a U-shaped bracket suspended from said board and receiving said brace therethrough, and a bolt adjustably supported between the armsof said bracket to support said brace thereon.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
' HARRY J. WALLACE.
