Description

0. R. SIELAFF. SHOW CARD HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED JUNE 6, 1921 Patented Nov. 15, 1921.
jiuen UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OTTO RICHARD SIELAFF, OF LIVINGSTON, MONTANA.
Application filed June 6,
I To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, O'rTo RICHARD SIELaFr, a citizen of the United States. of Amerlca,
and a resident of Livingston, county of Park,
and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Show-Card Holders, of which the following is a specification. i
The main objects of this invention are to provide a show card holder havingan improved form and arrangement of parts for visibly supporting a showcard above the articles of merchandise which it displays; to
. provide improved means for removably supporting the show card in the holder; and to proyide improved means for. detachably securing the holder to the side of a merchandise tray or similar receptacle.
An illustrative embodiment of this invention is shown in the accompanying drawin wherein--- igure 1 is a perspective View of the card holder.
Fig. 2 is a lan, partly broken away, show ing the hol er applied to a merchandise ig. 3 is a vertical sectlon of the holder,
showing the tray partly broken away.
Many of the price card holders which are now in common use for supporting a price tag on a merchandise tray or sales counter,
. are objectionable in that the tag is held in a position where it may be inadvertently covered by the merchandise which the tag displays. The present invention overcomes this objectionable feature by providing a holder having a base which may be covered by the merchandise, and having a back .member formed to support a price tagin a visible position above the tray.
In the form shown, the price card holder is made of a single piece of sheet metal, and comprises a rectangular base 1 and a back plate 2 disposed atsubstantially right angles to each other.
The back2 is bent to provide a shoulder Specification of Letters Patent.
SHOW-CARD HOLDER.
Patented Nov. 15, 1921. 1921. Serial no. 475,382.
or ledge 3, which extends across the back substantially parallel to the base, for supporting a price card or tag 4. The side edges of the back above the ledge 3 are bent forwardly and inwardly to form a pair of vertically disposed guides 5 for engaging the tag.
Struck out from the back plate is a lug 6 which extends rearwardly and downwardly in spaced relation to the plane 01 the back. The lug 6 and back plate 2 form a clip which is adapted to straddle one of the side walls of a merchandise tray 7 of standard height for detachably securing the holder to the tray while the base rests on the bottom thereof.
When the device is in use, the holder may i be either placed upon a sales counter or in a and disposed at substantially right angles thereto, a ledge bent out from said back above and parallel to said base for supporting a show card 111 a vislble position above the walls of said tray, the sideedges of said back being bent inwardly to form a pair of spaced guides for engagement with said show card, and a lug struck out from said back, said lug and back being relatively arranged to form a clip adapted. to straddle one of the side walls of said tray.
Signed at Chicago this 1st day of June, 1921.
OTTO RICHARD SIELAFF.
