In the accompanying drawing "forming part of the specification,
, Figure 1 is a front view of a portlonof a union suit, having myimprovement applied thereto, the front of the garment being unbuttoned and one side thereof being turned arranged inside of the garment front. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the overi lapping edges of the front of the garment buttoned together, the position of the inside sheet being indicated by dotted llnes,

One edge of this sheet indicated at 7 is per= .manently secured, preferably by sewing,
within the underlapping'side or portion of the front of the garment, as shown clearly in Flg. 8.0f the drawings. There is also preferably a row of stitching 8 arranged near the edge, or substantially in line with, that carries the row of. buttons 4:. The sheet 6 extends for substantially half of'its indicated in Fig. 1, so as to be adapted to underlie the other half of the front of the garment, and it is preferably'provided with buttons 9 that are adapted to button through arranged in the body of side thereof,- as indi- It will thus be seen that the part, of the sheet 6 that isunder one-half ofthe'front of the garment is permanently secured to the inside of this part of the garment, while the. other half of the sheet projects therefrom the garment, as V and is adapted to underlie the other half of I the front of the garment and to be held in place by the buttons 9, on its free edge adapted to engage the button-holes 10. After the garmenthas been put on by the wearer this across-the body and the buttons 9 are inthe usual way. h The garment thus produced is very muchportion. of the sheet is spread partof the sheet and serted throughthe button-holes 10 near the l warmer than an ordinary garment that buttons down the front, as the overlapping edges of the garment are covered by this inside sheet, and the entire front of the garment is made of double thickness. With slight expense a very much warmer garment .is' produced and one that has the appearance of an ordinary garment'that is arranged to be buttoned down the front.
I claim as myinvention:
A garment of the class described having 5 ,a central vertlcal opening with overlapping edges, and means for securing said edges together, of an underlying sheet having one edge to the inside wall of the garment near portion thereof permanently secured inside the side thereof, said single underlying sheet of the front portion of the garment at one imparting a double thickness to each of the 10 side of its Vertical opening, and the remaintwo separable front portions of the garment.
