LUDWIG M. N. WOLF, OF AVON, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-BRACKETS FOR SEWING-MACHINES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 138,831, dated May 13, 1873 3 application filed April 17, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LUDWIG M. N. WOLF, of Avon, county of Hartford, State of Connecticut, have made certain new and useful Lamp-Bracket for Sewing-Machines and to enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, I will proceed to describe its construction, referring to the drawing, in which the same letters indicate like parts in each of the figures.
The nature of this invention consists .in se-- curing an elongated bracket, composed of links, each end of which bracket being secured to the back edge of the table-bed of the machine, and having an opening or socket near its center to receive a lamp or other lighting device, so that it can Vibrate or move one way and another in a circular or in a serpentine direction, so as to be readily adjusted as may be desired, and to obviate the annoyance of placing a lamp upon the table, and the liability of its being upset onto the floor, thereby producing a conflagration or other damage.
Figure 1 is a top view of a sewing-machine table, showing the links which form the bracket, each end of which is secured to the table-bed, as shown by dotted lines. Fig. 2 is an edge view of a sewing-machine table, having the bracket secured thereto.
a is a sewing-machine table, the elongated bracket, which is composed of links I), more or less in number, having a socket, c, for holding the illuminating device or lamp, each end of which is secured to the table-bed, so that the bracket in all its parts can vibrate to and fro to adjust the light as may be desirable. The links I) are provided with a socket at one end and a swivel pin at the other end, so that its length can be easily increased or diminished by adding or removing the links. Thus the light may be arranged to reflect directly upon the work.
I claim- The links I), socket c, with the table a, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
a LUDWIG MARTIN NICOLAUS WOLF. [L. 3.]
