Description

E. JEANIAQUET. VAGINAI. SYRINGE.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 2.8, i920.
Patened June 28, 1921.
UNITED STATE PATENT OFFICE.
EUGENE JEANJAQUET, OF SWARTZ CREEK, MICHIGAN.
VAGTNAL SYRINGE.
Application filed June 28,
To all 'whom t may concern Be it known that l, EUGENE JEANJAQUET, a citizen of the United States or America, residing at Swartz Creek, in the county of Genesee and Sta-te or Michigan, have invented certain new and usefr'ul Improvements in Vaginal Syringes, of which the following is a speciiication, reference being had therein to the accompanying` drawings.
This invention relates to that class of vaginal syringes in which means are provided ior dilating the vagina and for educting the injected liquid, and has for its object an improvement in the structure shown in Letters Patent No. 458,022, dated August 187 1891, whereby the parts or' the device may be more readily separated for cleaning and sterilizing.
In the drawings:
Figure l is an elevation of my improved syringe with the dilating fingers shown partly opened, all the parts being in operative position;
Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section showing the bulb E detached and the terminals of the braces removed from the collar 0;
Fig. 3 is a cross section on the line 3--3 of Fig. 2;
Fig. 4t is an end view of the collar O taken in the direction indicated by the arrows 4 4 in Fig. 2; and
Fig. 5 is a cross section through thebushing M in the direction indicated by the arrows 5 5 in Fig. 2.
A is a cylindrical eduction tube open at the front end and closed at the rear end by a head A h aving a central aperture on one side of which is an inwardly extending projection J.
B is an outlet at the lower part of the rear end of the tube A., having a nipple C formed about the outlet ior connection with a drainage tube D.
VThe induction tube E which extends through the tube A is provided at its forward end with a detachable spray head E provided with perforations F, and at its rear end vis screw-threaded at G for engagement with an operating nut H having` an annular flange H,
At the rear end of the head A is a keeper Speccation of Letters Patent.
Patented June 28, 1921.
1920. serial No. 392,278.
I having a. lip l arranged to engage the aiige H. to permit rotation while preventing longitudinal movement. The projection .l engages with a iattened portion FFl of the tube .E to prevent its rotation while permitting longitudinal movement.
The dilating fingers K are pivotally mounted in a bushing M secured in the front end of the tube A, by means of a wire loop i passing through perforations near the ends oi' the fingers.
A collar 0 secured upon the tube E near its frontend has formed therein an annular groove C having notches O2 to receive the terminal members P of braces P which are pivotally connected at their other ends with the lingers K by means of pins Q extending across the channels or grooves Q formed in the inner faces of the lingers K.
rlhe detachable spray head E is screwthreaded to engage the threaded end T of the tube E, yand is provided with an end fiange R which engages the front end of the collar O to hold the terminal members P in the notches O2 and groove O.
A flexible tube S is attached to the end Gr of the induction tube E to furnishV a supply of liquid.
rllie operation of the parts will be obvious from the description, the structure diii'ering from that of the former patent cited only in the improved means employed to render the bracesP readily separable from the tube E, so that by unscrewing the spray head E', tbe terminals P may be lifted out of the notches O2 and the tube E be withdrawn through the front end of the tube A after unsciewing the nut H from the threaded portion G.
l claim:
In a vaginal syringe, an eduction tube having an induction tube movable axially thereof, a series of dilating lingers, each fiir ger beingpivotally mounted at its rear end to the eduction tube, and a series of braces, each being pivotally secured at one end to one of the dilating fingers, and at the opposite end being provided with a terminal member, a collar upon the induction tube having formed therein on its forward face an annular groove and having notches to receive the terminal members of the braces,
and a spray head secured detachably upon the front end of the induction tube and an ranged so that when in operative position, its rear portion forms a closure for the vzmnulzu groove in the collar, to hold the termino1 members of the braces in pivotal engagement therewith.
EUGENE JEANJAQUET.
