To aZZ/Lzhomz'tmay concer/n:
.Be it'knowii that I, CLAIR G. WRIGHT, a citizeiif of the' United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which Vform a part of this specification.
This invention relates to garment supporters and particularly to hose supporters,
the primary object being to provide an easily applied garter which will efficiently support the hose. Y
Another object is Ito Vprovide a. garter which will not bind the leg when in use and it is also the purpose of my invention to provide a garter which will have a maximum durability, there being means provided to renew the wearable parts so that when the elastic becomes worn, a new one ma be substituted.
ne of the features of my invention is the novel construction of the major portion of the garter, which consists of leather or some other suitable non-elastic material (leather preferred) constructed in aloop form so that it will conform to the constricted portion of the calf of the leg and be provided with longitudinally disposed side strips to which the garment clasps may be secured so that there will be a direct pull lon itudinally of the leg to support the hose. n order to maintain the loop in place I provide a corresponding band or strip of elastic material which is preferably adjustable for obvious reasons, the elastic ,band being adapted to be removably attached to the loop so that when the elastic becomes worn or deteriorates, a new one may be substituted therefor, renewing the garter for all practical purposes. Y
In the drawings, Y
Figure l is a perspective view of the garter applied, and
Fig.2 is a disassembled perspective view of the main body of the garter or loop Aand the removable elastic band.
The reference numeral l designates the main portion of the garter which may consist of a looped body portion curved to con- Specification of Letters Patent.

form tothe upper portion of the calf-of the leg ofthe wearer and the ends 2 and Sof` the loop -extend at substantially right :angles thereto `so as to lie against the leg. The ends 2 and 3 support garment-engaging clasps 4 and 5, as shown in Figs. l and 2 so that thereA will be al direct upward pull on opposite sides of the hose, tending to support the hose without liability of wrinkles or drawing.
At the junction of the major portion of the loop l with the ends 2 and 3 are metal lloops 6 and 7, which are adapted to be removably engaged by the hooked ends 8 and 9 of an elastic band or strip 10, which isvadjustable through the medium of the loop 11, as will be well understood. f
When in place the upper ,edge of the strip or band l0 will be substantially in line with the lower edge of the major portion of the loop l, the band or strip l0 lying across the shin in a straight transverse plane so as to maintain the loop 1 in place, as shown in Fig. l.
With the peculiar arrangement of the parts, the elastic need be under only slight tension' and it will, therefore, not be necessary to so tightly bind the garter labout the leg of the wearer as to cause marks on the flesh or to seriously interfere with the circulation. v

evo
A particular advantage in constructing y The elastic across the shin is not so liable i to cause accumulation of perspiration as it does under the bend of the leg. e It will be seen from the foregoing that the garter may be readily attached to the leg and to the hose, that the pull will be mainly upon the loop l although part of the strain will be taken by the elastic l0, and that by the peculiar arrangement of the elastic with respect to the loop l, liability of the garter slipping down over the calf will be eliminated. n
It will also be apparent that the part most liable to wearis the elastic and that a worn elastic maybe readily removed by detaching the hooks 8 and 9 fromv the loops 6 and 7 iioy and ,substituting a new one. ThereoreQ the life of the garter may be'g-reatly prolonged by substitution of new elastic for worneout ones.v
What I claim and desire to secure biyfLet'-vv hose, (and a removable elastic connecting the.
opposite sides.
Y 2.V` A garter comprising'a non-elastic open loop` havingv depending ends, hose-engaging members carried by the terminals of the ends, and an end connecting elastic extendlngtransversely between the same and adapted to embrace the shin of the wearer.
3. A garter comprising a non-elastic ,open
loop, an elastic member bridging the open?V portion of said `1oop,-the ends of the loop eX- `tending below the elastic, and garment supporting means carried b said'ends. Y
In testimony whereof ax my si nature. -Y v CLAIR GLVVRI HT. j
