IMPROVEMENT IN CORSETS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 137,724, dated April 8, 1873; application filed January 22, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARY RUSSELL, of Union Bridge, Carroll county, Maryland, have invented certain Improvements in Female Wearing Apparel, of which the following is a specification; and I do hereby declare that in the same is contained a full, clear, and exact description of my said invention, reference bewhich is clasped in front by means of the devices a. The back part of the corset is laced in the usual manner. The parts fitting to the breasts of the wearer are shown by B B, and

made of some elastic substance. A hook, b, is secured to the exterior surface of each of the parts B at or near the top thereof, which hooks, when the parts B are to be turned over,

are fitted into the eyes b attached to the body of the corset, as shown. The breast of the wearer is thus exposed for the purpose above named, and the parts B held to the position indicated in a manner simple and convenient.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and wish to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

In a corset, the elastic breast-parts B B, in combination with the fastening devices b and b', or their equivalents, as herein set forth.
