ing to be a full, clear, and exact description oi the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to book binding and particularly to books having removable covers.

An object of this invention is to provide a book having a removable cover that will have a flat opening.

A further object of this invention is to provide a bank book easily carried in the pocket, of simple and cheap construction, that will have a removable cover, and that will lie at when open."

A further object of this invention is to simplify and cheapen the cost of production of such a book.

With these and other objects in view, as will become readily manifest to those versed in the art, the invention consists in the means and in details and arrangement of the elements thereof as more particularly described in the following speciication relative to the embodiment or' the invention illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my book showing the cover partially removed.

The book leaves A are attached to the leather cover B by the tongue C sliding in the flanged groove D. The leaves A are aixed to the tongue C by stitching, as at 1. The grooved member D is al'hxed to the leather cover B by clips pressed into'the leather cover B, as shown at 2. These Vclips are stamped from the stockof the grooved member D. A

yIhe grooved member D, which is a single piece of sheet metal, is flanged, as shown at 3, and an abutment formed at one end, as shown at 4. On the other end is a lip 5 which may be turned upto keep the tongue C from coming out after having once been inserted.

By reason of the leaves A being superimposed upon each other and stitched immediately upon the at tongue C it is obvious that when open the book will lie flat.

IVhat I claim is:

1. A. book comprising a cover, a grooved member secured within and at the bend of the cover, a plurality of superposed sheets secured by a single medial line of stitching to a lat tongue member, said tongue member adapted to slide in the grooved member of the'cover. A

2. A. book comprising a cover, a grooved member secured within and at the bend of the cover, a plurality of superposed sheets secured by a single medial line of stitching toa flat tongue member, said tongue member adapted to slide in the grooved member of the cover, and means for removably securing Vsaid flat tongue member in said grooved member.
