N. J-. TJAERANSEN. COMBINED-SKIRT AND SPORTING TROUSERS. APPLICATION FILED mAYIs, 1919.
1,374,040. Patented Apr. 5, 1921 UNITED STATES NILS J'OOIDVIN TJ'ERANSEN, OF CHRISTIAN'SUND, NORWAY.
COMBINED SKIRT AND SPORTING-TROUSERS.
Application filed May 16, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NILs JooDvIN TJlER- ANSEN, of Konsul Jensens gate 906, Christiansund, in the Kingdom of Norway, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Skirts and Sporting- Trousers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyin drawings, and toletters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention has for its object a combination of skirt and sporting-trousers and is particularly distinguished by this that in order to obtain a good lit in both uses'two different button rows are arranged, the outer of which is used when the suit is to be used as trousers, whereas the inner button row is employed when a skirt is to be used. Moreover, in order to enable the use as a'pair of trousers without injuring the cut as a skirt there is arranged a quite short inner pair of drawers attached to the waist-band and providing a closure for the upper part of the article of clothing not closed by the button rows.
In the accompanying drawing the article of clothing is illustrated. Figure 1 shows the article of clothing in a quite unbottoned condition and with one flap turned back. Fig. 2 shows the article of clothing in its use as a skirt, whereas Figs. 3 and 4: illustrate its use as trousers.
The article of clothing is provided at the upper part with slits 1 laterally and with buttons 2 in the waistband 3 at these slits. To this band is also attached a small inner pair of drawers 4 (shown in dotted lines) shaped nearly as a pair of bathing-drawers and being preferably of the same fabric as the article of clothing itself and terminating a short distance from the crotch, said drawers extending a minor portion of the length of the skirt from the waistband. This small innerpair of drawers is necessary because it would not be possible to obtain a good cut of the article, if the buttoning hadto be Specification of Letters Patent.

continued all up to the end of the slits arranged in the r is suitably made with the swung shape indicated in Figs. 1 and 2. That is, one side is out or recessed on a concave at the front and back and the other side is out free to form a flap to overlap or overlie the first side when used as a skirt orto encircle one leg while the other side encircles the other leg, to the crotch, when used as trousers.
as shown in Figs. 3 and 4. 7
On each of the two halves of the skirt formed by the splitting two rows of buttons (or press button or hooks) are arranged, viz: one row 6 to be used when the article is to be transformed into a pair of trousers and one row 7 to be used when the article is to be used as a skirt. 7
