S. MOLIS.
BED SPRING- APPHCATION FILED MAY 1. 1920.

INVENTOI? stanislovas M0263 ATTORNEY STANISLOVAS MOLIS, OF RACINE, WISCONSIN.
BED-SPRING.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 1, 1921.
Application filed May 7, 1920. Serial No. 379,450.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STANISLOVAS Moms, a citizen of Lithuania, residing at Racine, county of Racine, and State of l/Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful 11nprovements in Bed-Springs, of which the following is a specification.
lvly invention relates to certain improve ments in spring bed-bottoms, and particm larly to frames that can be folded It is the principal object of my invention to provide a frame for a bed -spring that can be folded in approximately its center and can be conveniently and readily placed upon the frame of a bed, at the same time being simple, strong, and not liable to get out of order.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which- Figure 1 is a top plan View of a bedspring frame constructed according to my invention.
Fig. 2 is a side view thereof, and
Fig. 8 an end view.
The bedspring frame consists essentially of a pair of L-irons 10 each made in two parts 11 and respectively, which are hingedly connected at their meeting edges as indicated at 1.3 at the horizontal bar of the L, while their meeting edges of the vertical. bar of the L are connected by a fork and tongue connection as indicated at M.
Each of the irons 10 is provided at its ends with a semi-tubular sleeve 15 at the lower end of a bracket 16 secured to each end of the irons. This semi-tubular sleeve is adapted to rest with its open underside upon the ends of the longitudinal bars 17 of a bed-frame so that it can be easily placed. thereon and lifted therefrom. I
A plurality of short coil springs 18 are secured to suitable eyes 19 secured in the vertical bars of the L-irons 10. To the outer ends of said springs eyes 20 are secured into which the ends of the longitudinal rods 21 of a bed spring 22 are hooked, so that before folding the frame, or iron bars 10 the bed spring 22 may be detached from these irons by disengaging the hooks from the eyes 20.
Holes 23 are provided in any desired number in the vertical bar of the L-irons for engagement by the outer ends of the eyes 19.
It will be apparent from the above description that I accomplish the object of my invention by means of the described construction which is preferably adapted to ac complish the result for which it is intended, z. 6., for producing a foldable bed spring frame that can. be easily placed on a bedframe and removed therefrom, and which may be made as strong and durable as necessary, and by means of this construction, I provide for the folding of a bed-spring frame or the various parts thereof into a compact form, which is of great advantage in storing and shipping the same.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is- A bed spring frame of the character described comprising two bi-partite L-irons, hinges connecting the meeting edges of the horizontal L-bars of each iron part, fork and tongue connections for the meeting edges of the vertical L-bars of each iron, means for removably supporting said irons on a bed frame and means for detachably securing a bed spring to said rims.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
STANISLOVAS MOLIS.
