IMPROVEMENT IN PUMP-NOZZLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 136,478, dated Marih 4, 187 3.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHAELEs OsBoRN WIL- SON, of Columbia, Hamilton county, Ohio,have invented a new and useful Adjustable Pump Spout or Nozzle, for the purpose of preventing the dripping and waste ot' water, oil, liquors, 6to., from pumps; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation ofthe same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making apart of' this specification, in which- Figure l is a transverse section, and Fig. 2 a perspective view.
A and B are the two sections or parts of the spout or nozzle, connected at and working on the pivot C. D is the cavity from which one side is removed in Fig. 2 to show the connection of the spout into which the drippings run from A, as shown in Fig. 1. E is the pipe which conducts the drippings back into the reservoir. F F is the slot or opening in the cavity in which the spout or nozzle works, and G G the shield which keeps the slot or opening closed. H is the spring which throws up the part A when released into the position in Fig. l.
When the pump is being used for pumping the part A may be held down with the hand or any other means; and when the part A is released it will be thrown up by the spring H into the position shown in Fig. l, and the drippings will run back into the cavity, and thence through the pipe E into the reservoir.
I claim- The adjustable pump spout or nozzle in two'Y sections or parts, connected at and working on a pivot, in combination with the cavity,
slot or opening, shield, drippipe, and spring.
