Tnven or BaW/G Lawson Attorney FRANK G. LAWSON,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF ABERDEEN, WASHINGTON.
i Toor..
Application led March 1, 1919.
To @ZZ whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, FRANK G. LAWSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Aberdeen, in the county of Grays Harbor and State of Washington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tools, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improved construction of peavey or cant-hook, and the object of the invention is to provide a projection or a block on one side of the sharpened part thereof for increasing the effectiveness of the peavey.
rlhe invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated .in the accompanying drawings and Speciically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the Several views, and in which:
Figure l is a side elevation of a peavey constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is a like View turn from Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional tion.
Fig. 4 is a View tion is used.
In these views, l indicates the stock or handle part or" the peavey and 2 the socket,
taken at a quarter View of a modificashowing how the inven- `secured to the sharpened end of the stock.
This socket is provided with the usual hook 3` which is pivoted to the socket in the ordi- Specification of Letters Patent.

nary manner. In carrying out my invention, I form a projection 4 on said socket, said projection being formed with or secured to the socket. Said projection is located a quarter turn from the hook. v
I In the modification Shown in Fig. 3 the projection 4 is carried by a pointed member 5 and a space' is left between said pointed member and the projection.. In this case the pointed member 5 is driven between the end of the socket. The lower end of the socket iitting in the space 6, so that the projection rests against the lower part of the socket.
The use of the invention is shown in F ig. 4 where it will be seen that when it is desired to move the tance, it is not necessary to take a new hold with the peavey as the peavey may be tilted and turned to bring the projection against the side of the beam and then by pushing upwardly on the peavey the beam will be moved.
What I claim iS l. A peavey comprising a handle and a socket, a single hook pivoted to the socket and a laterally extending projection located below the plane of the hook and spaced a quarter turn from said hook for moving the object a slight distance when the hook is not being used. l 2. A peavey comprising a handle and a socket, a hook pivoted to the socket and a projection removably connected with the socket, below the plane of the hook and located a quarter turn therefrom.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
FRANK G. LAWSON.
