APPLICATION FILED NOV-5.1918.
Patented Aug. 3, 1920.
JACOB J'. HERB,
or TORONTO,
ONTARIO, CANADA.
lCITOT11-IEIS-WIRING'ER ATTACHMENT FOR WASHTUBS'.
Application filed November 5, 1918.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, J Aoo J. HERB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Toronto, Ontario, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in Clothes-Vringer Attachments or llashtubs; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descrip- .tion ot the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
lThis invention relates to new and useful improvements in attachments for washtubs, and particularly to attachments to stationary washtnbs. Y
One object of the present invention is to provide a novel and improved device tor engagement with one or another of the walls of the tub to protect the same from damage by the clamping screws o1c a clothes wringer.
Another object is to provide a device oi' this character which is readily adaptable for engagement over the ripper edge ot either of the end walls or the central partition mail ot a stationarywashtub.
Other objects and advantagesV will be apparent from the following description when taken in Connection with the accompanying drawing.
ln the drawing:
Fioure 1 is an elevation of the device in position on the end wall of the tub and which also supports the wringer.
Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the device and the engaging portion oi a wringer, the device being partly broken Vaway and the portion of the tub gripped by the device being shown in section.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents the end wall oit the tub t which m 1 invention is aanlied. The invention consists of a strip of wood, or other suitable material, which is of the same thickness as the wall of the tub, and isy disposed to rest longitudinally on the Specification of Letters Patent.

upper edge thereof. Secured to each side ot' the strip of wood l1, are the depending pairs of legs 12 which bear against the side faces of the wall of the tub. Bolts 13 are disposed through the upper ends ot the legs and the strip 11 to iirinly secure the sanie'to the strip. rl`hese bolts are provided with the winged nuts 11i whereby the legs may be firmly clamped against the faces Ot the wall of the tub.
The clamp members 15 of the wringer 1G are disposed in straddling relation to the wall of the tub and in such position that the two inner members of the clamps engage with the inner legs of the device while the screws 17 of the Yclamps engage with the other legs, thus thoroughly protecting the faces of the wall or" the tub from damage. rThis is especially useful where the wringer is provided with rather short clamps, which,
.after constant and continual use would break away the upper edge of the wall. iV ith the present device the clamps of the wringer do not Contact with the wall of the tub at any point, thus preventing the inner ends of the screws, of the clamps from biting into the wall.
vVillien a wringer is used which has short clamps which will not reach down to engage the legs of the attachment the clamps are engaged with the opposite sidetaces of the wooden strip 11.
Vhat is'claimed-is:
A protecting device for the edge of a washtub comprising an elongated block of a thickness to correspond to the thickness ot the edge of the tub, and depending legs secured to opposite sides of the block, adjacent the ends thereof, and in opposite pairs.
ln testimony whereof, I alix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
