UNITED STArns EDWARD A. HOWITT, OF WHITEWATER, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHROMATIC-PRINTING-PRESS ATTACHMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 134,602, dated January 7, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD A. Howrrr, of Whitewater, in the county of Walworth and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved ClIIODJfltiO PIiHtlIlg -Press Attachment; and I dohereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of this specification, in which--- t Figure 1 is a top view; Fig. 2, a' side view; and Fig. 3, a vertical central section of my invention.
This invention relates to printing-presses with movable inking-disks; and consists in the application to the face of the disk of metal straps, readily removable and quickly applied.
A in the drawing represents the ordinary inking-disk of a Gordon Liberty press. B B are a series of metal straps, which are laid over the face of the ordinary disk or inkingplate, fastened thereto so as to be detachable and made parallel toeach other. b is a crankbeing oscillated, carries forward the Wheel f and shaft d at intervals, thus vibrating the plate A intermittently. The color-carrying straps B, being attached to disk A, move correspondingly and deliver the ink to the superposed roller in the usual manner.
By attaching these metal straps rernovably they may be readily applied to any press and changed to suit any job in ten minutes.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The series of detachable straps B arranged in a printing-press parallel to each other and upon a vibratory plate, as described, and for the purpose specified.
EDWARD A. HOWITT.
