.i .aaanoa Vlie it known that l, lilnwnnn ifi .linmelinut, ac-itizenot the United tits. residing atl `Lander, in the county olf: :Fremont and litate. oli' liyomingl `have i invented certain new and useful.improvements inf Heating- "Drums oi whiclrthe if'ollowinn is a siecii- `cation7 reiferenceibeing1 hadto the accompanying drawings. n
i ,.'llhis invention relates to certain improve ments in `heating1 drums, and it 1s an object oli the;inventionito provide anovel and im- 'I iiroved. ldevice ot this `general character whichimay be assembled with convei'iience and: facility `and which comprises separable parts to 'facilitate theV cleansing thereof.:
`Another, object of the invention 1s to pro- ;fvidea `novel"` and improved `device of this .general characterwliiereinythe `products oi combustion are cruised` to travel there tlirogupgliun an irregular path to `assure the desired beat radiation and to prevent soot or the "like `passing` `ont `through tho iiue `or chimney proper. i i
,sin additional.objectot the invention is to provide a novel and improved drum oif this foliarzgcten wherein thelvproducts ot oombus-` `tion may causodzto travel therethrough in an irregular patliorl` in `substantially` a direct patliin accordance`with the seasons ot the year.`
rlfhe invention consistsin` the i. details ont construction and in the combination and ar rangement oi': the several parte oit' my iniproved heating);` drum whereby certain important advantages are attained and the dei comp anying1 drawings, wherein vice rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous tori'lse as will be hereinafter more fully set `ltorth. f i
i The novel features oft my invention will hereii'iatter be deiinitely claimed.`
ln order that niy invention may `be the better understoodpl will now proceed to de soribethe same with` reference to the ac- Figure l is a vertical sectional view taken through a heating drum constructed in ac` cordauce with an embodiment ot my invention and in applied position7 the coactingr stove i being; shown in fraglnent, and

ing the bottom section B and the top seo `tion T.
1: The bottoni section B is cylindrical in `form with its lower end closed by the head l and] havingjits opposite end open, and the top" section 'l` is also cylindrical in torni with its lower end open and its upper end closed by the head 2. The lower portion of `the "top "section T telescopic-ally engages within the upper or open end ot the bottoni section B and said top section T is of a length materially in eXcesswof the co`rrespending dimension of the 1 bottom `section B. i
At one side oi' the axial center thereof, the
`head l oi the bottom section B is provided with aninduction opening 3 definedby an upstanding flue` F ofv a length to terminate below but in close proximity to the head 2 of the top section T when the sections B and T are inl assembled relation.
The head l ot the bottom section B in radial alinement with the flue F and at the oppositeside ot the axial center of said head 'l has suitably secured thereto the lower por-'f tion ot a flue F. rlihe Hue F extends upl wardly substantially in parallelism with the flue F and is ot a length to telescopically engage lwithin the lower end portion oia sleeve or thinible Si disposed through `the head 2 of the .topl section `T. i
The sleeve or thimble S extends above and below the head 2 and the upper portion trol ot a damper 7 arranged within the flue F and under control ott the operating member M extending exteriorly of the drum through the head 1 of the bottom section B. The openings 6 are positioned adjacent the inner end oit the flue F and said openings 6 are of a diameter to extend inwardly oit the inner end of the Hue F whereby a direct draftinay be had from the inner end of the flue F through the opening 6 "when the damper 7 Vis in open position.
Y In pi'actice, the products of combustion from the vstove pass upwardly 'through the flue F into the drum as afforded bythe` sections B and 'I`V and when the damper 7 is in closedV position, 'said products of combustion pass downwardly of the drinn and into the flue F. through V,the lower opening 5 and pass outwardly through the'i'lue F. This-irregular travel of the products of combustion assures an edective radiation of the v heat from the drum and also serves to mavterially eliminatethe. passage of soot or the andit willyalso beV obvious like outwardly `.through theflue F. Such -soot or the lileis `generally collectedV upon the head lzolthe bottom section B, with the result that thev heat within the drum. substantially entirely consumes suchV deposits.
Vdamper The movedvinto open'position so that the products of combustion will travel in substantiallyfa direct 'path through the flue F and into the hue F through the registering openings. 6 with theresul-t -thatthe radiation ofheatffrom the drum is materially' reduced.
,1, From the foregoing description, itV is thought to be obvious vthat 'a heating drum constructed fin' accordance with my inven-l tion is-particularly well adapted for use by reason-of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated,
tha-tiny inventionis susceptible of some change and modi- `ication without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for ythis reason I do not-Wish to be understoodas limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention 1n practice ex` cept as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
A heating drum of the class described comprising two separable sections having their outer ends closed, the closed end of one ol the sections being provided with a pair of radially spaced tlues, and at opposite sides oi' the axialcenter of the section, one of said lues being in communication with an induction opening in the closed end of said section, said flue being of a length to terminate inwardly of the closed end oi the'second section when said sections are assembled, the second lue being provided with openings in its wall adjacent the opposite ends of the flue, a thiinble disposed through the closed end of the second section' and in which an end portion of the second flue teleseopically engages when the sections are assembled, said tliiinble being provided with an opening registering with the opening within said end portion of the second flue, the registering openings of the thimble and second flue being positioned adjacent the inner end of the Iirst named lue, said openings being of a diameter to extend inwardly of said inner end of the first flue, a damper within the second fine for controlling said registering openings, and means extending through said second flue and exteriorly of the drum through the closed end of the first section for operating the damper.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
