all citizens of the United States, residing, respectively, at Glenmorris, in the county of Queens and State of New York, at Jamaica, in thecounty of Queens and State of New York, and at New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the'county of-Kings und State of New York, have linvented a certain new and useful Improvement in a Foldable Display-Box, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification. 1

This invention relates to va class of containers which is cut from a single blank and then folded into the form of a box.

Our invention has for its object primarily to provide a box or container for holding` articles. such as merchandise, in a manner whereby the box with its contents may be displayed on a counter, show case and elsewhere so that it will. attract the attention of persons as Well as permitting suitable advertisin matter to be conspicuously shown, and whic 1 is of a form whereby the contentsof the box will be free from the liability of damage by the collection of dust or exposure to air as well as serving to protect the contents from being surreptitiously taken.

Another object of the inventlon is to rovfide a box which is out from a sin le b ank ina fashion allowinof being readi y folded together for provi( ing its various parts wlthout the necessity of gluing, and which lpermits of the advertising matter desired to e displayed on the exterior of the assembled 'box to be accomplished .by printing or embossing or otherwise inscribing only one surface of the blank, thereby saving the' lar expense usually attendant upon the Ina ing of many; types of boxes of this class.

A further olb'ct of the invention is to provide a foldable display box whereby its simplicity' of construction permits of a great saving in the consumption of the material of which it is made, and which is adapted to be produced in various sizes.

With these and other objects in view, the invention will be hereinafter more particu larlydescribed with reference to the accompanying drawing forming a art of this specification in which similar c aracters of '13. In spaced parallel relation to the reference indicate corresponding arts in all the views, and will then be pointe out in the claims at the end of the description.

In the. drawings, Figure 1 is a plan of a blank cut and scored from which the box is folded.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view illustrating one step in the folding process of the blank into the box.

The box is made from a blank 10, Fig. 1, which is cut or struck by the use of dies or otherwise from a single sheet of `cardboard, paper or other foldable flexible material and then scored to provide a bottom member A, side wall members B, C, end wall members D and E, a lid member F. an adjustable sleeve member G, an easel member H and an upstanding display member I. All of these parts are integral, as shown, and when folded together the completed .box is substantially rectangular.

The blank 10 has a body part 11 which is approximately rectangular in general outline, and the bottom A of thev box is irovided by scoring, at 1:2 and 13, transversely in spaced parallel arrangement the body part 11 of the ilank. The body pai't 11 in spaced relation to one of its ends is scored, as at 14, crosswise with respect to the scoring 12 and 1,3, and the portion ofthe body part between the scoring l-'l and the adjacent end of the :body part is slittcd, at 15, on alinement with the scoring 12, while the 'saine portion of the body part in spaced relation to the slit 15 is likewise slitted. at, 16. on alinement with the scoring scoring 13 the body part 11 is scored, at 17,

transversely from end to end, and portion of the body part from the juncture ofthe seoring` 17 with the sein-ing 14 is slitted, as at 18, toward the second side edge of tbe body part.

The portion of the body part- 1.1 of the blank 1() between the scoring 14, slit 15 and the adjacent corner of the body part irovides a section 28 of the end wall mein r E of the box, while the portion of the body part -of the blank between lthe slit 16, scoring 17 and seorin 14 provides a seetion 29 of the end wa member E. These two Sections of the end wall member are adapted to be nterlocked when folding the box, and to accomplish this, the central part of the edge of the section 28 adjacent to the slit 15 is notched, as at 30, to rovide a. finger, as 31, while an end part of t ie section 29 of the end wall member is slitted, as at 32, for receiving the fin er 31 wher. the

The combination, in a folda'ble display box having a substantially rectangular body 40 with an open top, of a display member com posed of two intel'locked lappinr sections` hing'edly upstanding from one o the end walls of the body so as to be swung downwardly and upwardly u n and from the lid of the body, an ease member foldably adjustable at one end of the body for ositioning the body onl an incline, and a s eeve member having one end hinged at the end of the body opposite to the easelv for being adjustable on the exterior of the body upwardly and downwardly into and out of enga'fement with the easel when supporting' t e body, said `body and the said niembers all being integral as well as 'being out 65 and foldably scored from a4 single blank.
