LOUIS J. PRIMEAU', F MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA.
SHELL-TRUCK.
Application filed February 12, 1919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS J. PRIMEA'U, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Montreal, in the Province of Quebec and Dominion of Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shell-Trucks, of
which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to means whereby heavy munition shells may be conveniently rolled in a plant either to a place where the same are to be piled or stored or to a truck or other vehicle for conveying the same away from the plant.
The object of the invention is to produce a simple device for this purpose whereby the shells will be positively directed and easily rolled to a proper destination.
A further object of the invention is to produce a device of this character which may be cheaply manufactured, easily handled, and thoroughly eflicient for the purpose for which it is devised.
Other objects and advantages will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a view illustrating the manner in which the device is operated.
Fig. 2 is a view of the improvement.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view approximately on the line 33 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view approximately on the line 4 -l of Fig. 2.
As disclosed in the drawings the improvement comprises a main member which is preferably formed of a single piece of heavy wire. The main member includes a shaft 5 having one of its ends rounded or arched over the said shaft as indicated by the numeral 6, and from thence extended in a line approximately central with and at right angles to the shaft, as indicated by the numeral 7. This straight extension terminates in a head 8, and on the said extension is a tubular sleeve 9. The sleeve provides the handle for the device.
On the shaft 5 is a pair of comparatively small spaced rollers 10. The rollers are preferably retained on the shaft and in proper spaced relation to each other by collars 11 positioned to the opposite sides of the Specification of Letters Patent.

respective rollers and secured on the shaft y screws 12. v
The shaft portion of the device is arranged in a shell, as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, the head 8 as well as the tubular member 9 is grasped by the operator so that this portion of the device is retained at an angle with respect to the shell, and a push or pull will cause the shell to turn or roll in an easy manner over the floor of the plant to a place designed to receive the same. The rollers 10 are in the nature of anti-frictional elements and the construc tion is such that the shell may be readily guided either in a straight path or at an angle or curve. It is thought that the above description, when taken in connection with the drawings, will make clear the construction and advantages of the improvement and that further detailed description will not be necessary.
Having thus described the invention, What is claimed as new, is 2- 1. In a device for the purpose set forth, a member including a shaft and a handle arranged at a right angle to the shaft, spaced rollers on the shaft, and members on the shaft to the opposite sides of the rollers having means for adjustably securing the same on the shaft whereby to retain the rollers adjustable on the shaft and to hold said rollers against longitudinal movement with respect to the shaft.
2. In a device for the purpose set forth, a member including a shaft having spaced rollers thereon, said member having one of its ends curved outwardly and over the shaft and continued at a right angle with respect to the shaft to provide a handle.
3. In a device for the purpose set forth, a member having one of its ends comprising a shaft, spaced rollers adjustably and removably arranged on the shaft, said shaft having one of its ends rounded upwardly and inwardly and from thence continued at a right-angle with respect to the shaft and terminating in a head, and a tubular sleeve on the last mentioned portion of the device.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
LOUIS J. PRIMEAU.
