Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 131,822, dated October 1, 1872.
To all 'whom it 'may concern:
Be itknown that I, OYEUs H. LATHAM, of Lowell, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a' new and Improved Stand for Table Use, for holding bottles, jars, Snc., of which the following is a specification:
Nature and Objects' of the Intention. My invention relatesto holders for bottles,
`such as pickle-stands,` table-casters, cruetstands, 85o.; l andmy said invention consists `in a novel manner of making a bottle-stand of twisted wire combined with a holding-plate; and the invention has for its object a cheap, substantial, and highly ornamental articleof table furniture.
Description of the Drawing.
Figure l is a perspective view of my improved stand; and Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of the saine, showing how the parts are united together, considerably .reduced in size.
General Description.
The cups A A which hold the bottles are made of twisted wire, in the manner fully described in the reissued Letters Patent No. 4,209, granted to me December 20, 1870, to
which reference is herewith made, and the r radial arms are cast to a screw, B, at their center. The base@ is formed of twisted wire, and the ends are cast to a nut, D, and the handle E is made of twisted wire, the lower part being cast to a screw, F, as plainly shown in the drawing. The plate G is madeof metal orfancy wood, and may be carved or otherwise elaborately ornamented, if desired, and it is simply bored and screw-threaded, and the cups, handle, and base are screwed thereto. In the model the bases C C are screwed upon a piece of a screw which is first inserted in the block of wood, but in practice the screw of the cupnA may be long enough to pass through the wood and receive the nut ofthe base C, or the base may have a screw instead of a nut to pass into the plate, these changes being made as convenience may dictate.

As a new and improved article of manufacture, a caster or bottle-holder composed of the twisted-wire cups A A, handle E, bases C C, and plate G, substantially as described and specified.
