CHARLES RUDOLPH GARLSON, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA.
INDICATOR FOR MEDICINE-BOTTLES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 30, 1919.
Application filed June 10, 1916, Serial No. 103,032. Renewed May 12, 1919. Serial No. 296,619.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES RUDOLPH CARLSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Indicators for Medicine-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to provide an inexpensive, attractive and efficient time indicator for medicine bottles.
With this and incidental objects in view the invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combination of parts, the essential elements of which are hereinafter described with reference to the drawing which accompanies and forms a part of this specification.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bottle with my improved indicator thereon. Fig. 2 is an elevation of the band forming a part of my indicator before it is applied to a bottle, and Fig. 3 is an elevation of the label before! it is applied to a bottle.
The label 1, Fig. 3, is gummed along the back edges thereof up to the dotted lines 2, so that it may be stuck to a bottle. in the ordinary manner, with the portion between the lines 2 ungummed.
An aperture 3 is provided in the center of the label, above which is preferably printed Take neXt dose, and below the aperture, the word Oclock.
In applying the indicator to a bottle, the band will be passed through the slits 4, as shown in Fig. 1, the label then fastened to the bottle by the gummed edges, and the two ends of the band 5 would be fastened together by the gummed portions 6, so that while the label itself is rigidly attached to the bottle, the band; would be loosely mbunted on the bottle, passing through the slits 4:.
The hours are preferably printed on the central portion of the band as at 7, so that a figure designating any particular hour may be exposed in the aperture 3 by sliding the endless band through the slits 4 until the proper figure has been so exposed.
While I have described my invention and illustrated it in one particular design, I do not wish it understood that I limit myself to this construction, as it is evident that the application of my invention may be varied in many ways within the scope of the following claims.
Claims:
1. As an article of manufacture, an indicator for medicine bottles comprising a label adapted to be aflixed to a bottle and having transverse slits near each end thereof, and an aperture intermediate of said slits and an endless band adapted to be placed around the bottle on which the indicator is applied, and positioned between the label and the bottle intermediate of the slits of the label and passing over the ends of the label beyond the slits, said band being slidably mounted with respect to said label and said bottle.
2. As an article of manufacture, an indicator for medicine bottles comprising a label having a transverse slit near each end thereof and an aperture intermediate of said slits, an endless band having indicating numerals printed thereon adapted to be displayed through said aperture, the endless band being positioned between said label and the bottle to which said label is afiixed intermediate of the transverse slits and pass ing through each of said slits so that said band may be circumvolved about the bottle to which said label is attached for the purpose of displaying the numerals on said band through said apertures 3. As an article of manufacture, an indicator for medicine bottles comprising a label having oppositely disposed gummed edges, transverse slits near each end of said label, an aperture intermediate of said slits, and a band having indicating numbers to be displayed through said aperture in said label, said band having gummed ends so that it may be mounted about a bottle passing through said slits and have its ends gummed together to form an endless band about said bottle slidably mounted in said slits so as to display the indicating numbers thereon through said aperture in said label.
