My invention relates to an improvement.

in athletic belts for female apparel and the object is to provide a light, tight-fitting belt adapted to be worn and fastened around the loins fitting down in front under the abdomen whereby to afford support for the latter from beneath, and also provide a means for the support of Jthe hose.

My invention consists in a belt cut in the form of a partial circle at the upper edge and the lower, in the main, is approximately parallel, tapering to a point approximately in the form of a right angle or a little less so that the belt lits across the back, with the upper edge at the waist line, and snugly around the small of the back and tightly around the hips and in front the upper edge extends somewhat below the waist line and the lower edge follows the trunk. approximately at a line coincident with the line of juncture of the legs and body with an opening at the center which embraces the abdomen from beneath and on each side of the center, with supporters attached at this angle and also a slight distance therefrom for the support of the hose, the tension beneath the abdomen being produced by the fastening at the meeting ends of the belt and the tension of the supporters at the lower edge which are disposed in such Aa direction as to create the'supporting effect mentioned.

The numeral 1, represents the belt which may be made of any suitable wash fabric preferably in two or more thicknesses to give the required strength and rigidity with the edges turned in and stitched together. The ends are provided with any suitable fastening means such as hooks and eyes 2 and 3.

diate portion and at the lower edge 5, `diverge at which point the belt is somewhat wider,` than the `remaining portion and an angle 6, is formed at this point perhaps a little less than a right angle whence the lower edge of the belt gradually returns to the Width of the main portion, thus giving in ef feet a triangular formation7 at this point. I

Supporters 8, are attached at this angle and extend approximately in line with the diverging edge 5.

Another supporter 9, is attached to the lower edge approximately at right angles thereto so that the two supporters on either end of the belt preferably converge toward the point of fastening to the hose and the two supporters on the two ends consequently diverge from each other as shown.

There is an object in this particular arrangement and disposition of the supporters as there is in the form and shape of the entire belt, for when applied the back portion of the belt starting from the waist line, lies flat upon and fits snugly over the back and then around the hips holding them firmly and thence in front along a line somewhat below the belt line at a point at about where the abdomen commences to curve inwardly so that the fastened ends are under the inwardly curved central portion of the abdomen after which the end parts diverge as shown along the lines 5, where the tension of the supporters 8 is applied as is also the inner lower edge of the triangular portion 7, formed by the angle 6, which, with the 'other supporter 9, holds the belt down while the wearer is standing or walking, tight under the lower portion of the abdomen thus affording a firm, smooth and tight sup* port from beneath the abdomen.

This belt may be worn with or without a corset and its primary function is as its' name implies, to afford a support for the lower abdomen from beneath and as such its construction is of a character to aiford` ing the tension of the supporters and as the wearer again stands resuming its normal position of tension at and around the parts described, w1th whatever strain and tension there may be, distributed throughout the enltire surface of the body embraced by the be t.

It is my intention to make these in several sizes, perhaps as many as ve or six.

Also, my invention contemplates the possibility of putting in a rubber strip at the back to provide for slight variations in the size of the gure to be fitted.
