FLEXIBLE SUPPORT.
. APPLICATION FlLED AUG-29. 191s.
THE COLUMBIA PLANOGRAPH 80., WASHINGTON, D. c.
T ofall :zqhom at may concern;
Be itk'nown' that I, OLIVER L. BADGER, a
citizen of the United States, and a resident of 'Plainfield, in the county ofUnion and I State of New Jersey, have invented a new ,rand useful Improvement in Flexible Supports} and I do hereby declare the following thereof. -My invention pertains to adjustable flexible supports, such as gun slings, jstirrupstraps, etc, and has for its principal object the provision of a support of the above general class that may be readily adjusted to different lengths, or disassembled altogether, and one in which the possibility of accidental 'f Another object is the provision of a support that will utilize friction locking buckles instead of the common form of prong buckle which weakens and wears the support.
' 'In 'the accompanying drawings I have [shown a support constructed according to my invention as beingin the form of a gun the same support may be used for different purposes, all of which are to be understood {'as part of the present invention.
Figure 1 is a side view of the support as used on a gun;
' Fig. 2 is afront view of the same; and
Fig. 3. is a perspective view of the buckle. 'Referring now particularly to the draw- Kings; the form of. support shown therein snap hooks 3 and 4 secured at its respecfriction type mounted thereon. The buckle A comprises a body plate 5 having a slot 6 formed therein and having a friction clamp- 'ing tongue 6? 1 pivotally mounted on side 3 portions 7.
The support is adapted to be mounted on 1 5 "fittings or links 8 and 9 on the gun 10, and is t. from: such fittings.
i The snap hook 3 is secured to the fitting 8 and; the other end of the strap 2 is threaded j. through the other fittings 9 forming portion or... lap 1l, and turnedback then threaded hrough the slot 6 in the buckle A forming 'ap 12 and then through between laps 11 hook 4"to fitting 9.

:By releasing theclamping tonguefi and moving the buckle to or from the snapho0k'3 .the support may be'shortened or lengthened. as will be readily apparent.
Itwill be obvious when my improved flexible support is in use with some forms of guns; such as the Browning gun, that suit- 'a'ble means, such as keepers preferably 1. In a flexible support, a link, a strap detachably secured at one end to said link and extended from said link to a point, then passed through a second link and returned upon itself forming a loop and extending to a point short of said first named link, thence passing through a friction buckle detachably mounted on said strap, thence returning upon itself and detachably secured to said second named link.
2. In a flexible support, a link, a strap detachably secured at one end and to said link and extended from said link to a point, thence passed through a second link and returned upon itself forming a loop and extending to a point short of said first named link, thence passing through a friction buckle detachably secured to said strap, thence returning within said loop and being secured to said second named link.
7 3. The combination with a gun stock, of a sling-comprising a strap having its one end secured to a fitting on the butt of said gun, and extending from said fitting to a point,
. thence passing through a second fitting and slingcomprising a strap having snap hooks secured to each end, one of said snap hooks being detachably secured to a fitting on the body of a gun, said strap extending from said fitting toa point, thenee passing throngh V Hs'aid firstnameid link, thenefiigs ifngthrfifi'gh I friction "buckle" slidiflzilj 1 P n strap; t hence returning Within-j said 100p dnddetaehably securedsaidsecend' named; link by vmeans of the qther b'ffsaidf snap hooks. j v ii e VIn testilndnyawhefeof,"I the. said OLIVER Yi L; BAD E haVeherennt-o set my hand, f
