IMPROVEMENT IN BAKERS OVENS.
Specification forming part of LettersPatent No. 129,993, dated July 30, 1872.
SPECIFICATION. 7 Be it known that I, AMOS B. SMITH, of Geneva, in the county of Ontario and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Steam-Oven, of which the following is a specification: I
The object of my invention is to provide steam-ovens with double-walled doors, leaving fitted, so as to close tightly,,and the pintles a of their hinges h are made hollow, as shown. The cavity 6 opens into the steam-space between the walls of the case A. There are, also, openings 0 into the doors, registering to the openings 1' of the pintles when the doors are closed; or the pintles may be shorter vertically than the cavity in the female portion of the hinge, in which case the steam-passage into the doors would remainuninterrupted, whether they were opened or closed. Small drip-cocks may be applied at the'lower edge of the doors, as shown by dotted lines at d, or the lower hinge may be placed at the extreme lower corner of the door, and the steam-passage through that hinge be thereby made to act as a drip-passage from the doors into the case A. A drip-cock for the latter may be placed as shown by dotted lines f, Fig. 2. Angle-irons or brackets may be fixed to the inner wall of the case for any desired number of shelves or gratings. The steam may be admitted to the steam-space S through the steam-pipe P, leading from the boiler or generator. The doors may be provided with any suitable latch or catch. An ordinary air-valve may be attached to the upper side of the oven and to the doors, if necessary. T
What I claim as my invention is- In combination with the steam-oven case A, double-walleddoors having hollow-pintled hinges, for the purposes set forth.
