MARCUS SAGER, OF IVASIIINGTON COURT-HOUSE, OHIO.
DOMESTIC OR PORTABLE OVEN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 399,567, dated March 12, 1889 Application filed May 5, 1888. $e1'ial No.272,928. (N0 model.)
Toall whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARCUS S. SAGER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at \Yashington Court-House, in the county of Fayette and State of Ohio, have i11- vented certain new and useful Improvements in Domestic or Portable Ovens; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and toletters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in domestic ovens, the object thereof being to provide an oven which can be readily used upon stoves constructed for use in connection with ovens having either an end or side door; and it consists in providing a portable or domestic oven with side and end doors; also in providing an oven having side and end doors with tray-supports; and further consists in the special construction of the tray-support and in the construction and combination of the parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of an oven constructed in accordance with my lll'lplOVQlllGlll). Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of one of the trav-supports. Fig. 4: is a sectional view of the t1 ay-support. Fig. 5 is a modification thereof, and Fig. 6 is a vertical longitudinal section taken through the line 00 .r of Fig.
The outer structure of the oven or vertical side walls maybe of ordinary construction, and are provided with openings at the front and side thereof, to which are suitably-hinged doors A and I so that access to the oven can be had either from the front or side, so that the same will be adapted for use with gas or oil stoves so constructed that for convenience and use it is necessary to have an oven with a door at either the front or side.
To the corners of the oven adj accnt to the doorway are secured by bolts the tray-supports 0, which consist of a casting having outward projections, I), upon which the trays rest. The ends of the bars are curved and provided with perforated portions E E, through which the securing-bolts pass, these portions being formed at an angle to conform to the configuration of the corner of the oven. The vertical wall or line F may be stamped to provide horizontal corrugations, upon which the trays will rest at that end of the oven, while the opposite ends of the trays rest upon the projections D.
IVhen desired, the casting C may be projected at an angle of forty-five degrees from the vertical sides of the oven, as shown in Fig. 5, so that the projections D will exten d beyond the line with the opening in either doorway, so that the trays can be inserted from either the front or side of the oven without removing the same from the stove.
The doors A and B may be hinged on either side of the doorway, as may be found most desirable, and when an end or side plate, F, is employed it forms a side or end fine, through which the heat or gases which enter the oven through the openings in the bottom plate can escape.
Heretofore in the manufacture of domestic or portable ovens it has been necessary, to meet the requirements of the trade relating to the manufacture of oil or gas stoves with which said ovens are used, to provide the same wit-h either an end or side door to satisfy the special construction of the stove. The oven hereinbefore described is adapted to provide the trade an oven which, can be used upon any style of stove, and which will embody my improvements as to the special construction of the parts and lines, as described in my previous applications which are pending at the date of this application.
I claim 1. The combination, with an oven having side and end doorways, of the tray-supports O, rigidly secured to the corners of the oven, substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination, with a domestic or portable even having side and end doorways of sufficient size to permit the insertion of the trays through either doorway, of the traysupports O, secured to the corners of the oven and provided with projections D, formed integrallytherewith, snbsrantiallyasshown, and engage, substantially as shown, and for the 10 for the purpose set forth. purpose set forth.
3. The combination, with an oven having In testimony whereof I affix my signature side and end doors, Aand B, of an inner side in presence of two Witnesses. Wall, F, having transverse corrugations, and w casting C or tray-supports, constructed sub- MARLUS SAGER' stantially as shown, secured to the opposite cor- Witnesses: ners from the lining F, said tray-supports O W.
