APPLIGATION FILBDQ'OT. 29, 1909.

l@ 2 2 SHEETS-SHEET 2. l f qf// 72g/ 4E /yl ISAAC SLAPO, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BAKERS OVEN.
T 0 all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IsAAo SLAPo, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at New York city, Manhattan borough, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bakers Ovens, of which the following is a clear, full, and exact description.
This invention relates to an improvement in bakers ovens more particularly to the grate feature thereof.
I will now proceed to describe my invention and point out the novel features thereof in the claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, wherein Figure 1 is a sectional plan view of an oven embodying my improvement; Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional detail view of my improved grate and frame, the section being taken on a line b-Z) in Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view, taken on a line c-c in Fig. 2, of a portion of the grate and frame therefor; and Fig. 4 is a detail fragmentary sectional plan view of the grate frame, the section being taken on a line cZ-cl in Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings, 1 indicates a bakers oven which I have chosen to illustrate my invention. The oven 1 is provided with the usual opening 2 and a door 3 therej for. In one corner of the oven 1, I place my improved grate and frame thereof, which are indicated by 4, the frame being indicated by la and the grate by 4b. The frame 4a has attached thereto pipes 5 and 6 for permitting a cooling fluid to flow through the frame 4a. In another corner of the oven 1, I place a damper which is indicated by 10.
For the purpose of keeping the grate ab cool, I provide the frame 4a with a chamber 16 through which a cooling fluid from the pipe 5, for instance, can circulate, the iiuid escaping through the pipe 6. But my improved grate may be utilized without the cooling chamber.
I will now describe another feature of my device. By referring to Figs. 2 and 3,
Specication of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 29, 1909.
Patented May 10, 1910.
Serial No. 525,290.
it will be seen that the inner side walls of the grate frame 4a are each provided with a cylindrical projection 17 adapted to enter the recesses 17L in a projecting block 18 carried by each side member of the grate 4b. The projections 17 are also provided with pins 17b which are adapted to enter slots 17c in the side members of the grate 1b. Adjacent the projections 17, I place a shelf member 19 carrying at each end thereof beveled stops 20 and 21. The stops 2O and 21 contact with the lower remote beveled edges 22 and 23 respectively, when the grate is rotated to its limit, as shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 3. The stops 20 and 21 are designed to prevent the grate 4J from being rotated to an extent to allow the grate 1b to drop out of the frame 4a. The pins 171 are designed to aid the projections 17 to support the grate, which in practice is comparatively heavy. To keep the inner ends of the pipes 5 and 6 away from the fire, I provide the frame 4a with projections 9.4L threaded as at 25 to receive the said ends of the pipes 5 and 6, (Fig. f1). The grate 41h is provided with an extension 26 to which an operating bar 15 (Fig. 1) is or may be attached.
Having now described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A grate frame, cylindrical projections integral with said frame, a shelf beneath each of said projections, beveled stops integral with said shelf, one at each end thereof, a rotatable grate, and blocks carried by said grate provided with a recess adapted to partly surround the projections on said grate frame, the remote lower edges of said blocks being beveled to correspond with the stops on said shelf.
Signed at New York city, N. Y., on this 27 day of Cctober, 1909.
isAAo h sLAro.
