Description

D. A. JONES.
UNITED STATES PATENT DANIEL A. JONES, OF WATERLOQ, IOWA.
IMPROVEMENT IN COAL-STOVE MAGAZINES.
a I Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 129,962, dated July 30, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL A. JONES, of Waterloo, in the county of Black Hawk and State of Iowa, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Coal-Stove Magazines; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure lot the drawing is a representation of a top view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same. a
My invention has relation to coal-stoves;
' and it consists in theconstruction and novel arrangement of a portable coal magazine or feeder, substantially as hereinafter described.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, A designates a cylindrical magazine of any suitable dimensions and holding capacity. From either end of said magazine project the circular flanges D D, designed, respectively, to fit the lid-holes of a stove, and to receive a flanged cap, B, provided with a rotary disk-register, E E. At F F are formed shoulders, the former'to receive the flange on the lid or cap, and the latter to rest on the top of the stove near the lid-hole, in which is placed the flange D. The magazine is designed to be filled with coal, which is fed to the fire according as the latter burns. In filling the magazine the cover is of course to be removed. IV hen the cover is replaced the register may be closed so as to prevent the escape of smoke or gas, or it may be regulated as occasion requires. The cover will fit either end of the magazine alike, and may sometimes be advantageously changed from one end to the other, as when the magazine becomes clogged at the lower end, impeding delivery. This magazine, being portable, may be applied to a great variety of stoves, and is especially adapted to use in cona nection with cook-stoves.
What I claim as new is As a new article of manufacture, a portablecoal feeder or magazine adapted to. fit the pot-hole of a stove, consisting of the cylinder A, having flanges DD, shoulders F F, and removable cap B, provided with the register E, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
DANIEL A. JONES. Witnesses:
CARL F. OoUoH, CAL. S. CONNER.
