SANITARY HI(Ev`.E'.-CHAIRY TRAY.
Specication of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 11, 1919.
Application led December 4, 1916. Serial No. 134,928.
T0 all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, RozETTA E. DULAC, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county pf San Francisco, State of California, haveffinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Sanitary AHigh-Chair Trays; and I do .hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in high chair attachments, and particularly to tray attachments therefor.
One object of the present invention is to provide a simple and cheap device which can be readily secured to the ordinary high chair table or tray and which can be as readily ktaken olf to be cleaned when the meal dishes are cleaned. n
Another object is to provide a device of such construction that there will be no corners for the collection and decay of food scraps.
Another object is to provide a device of this character on which the childs plate can but detachably fastened, so that upsetting or dropping of the plate will be prevented.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a top plan View of my improved tray.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same applied to a high chair.
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. l.
Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 4f-l of Fig. 1. y
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents the tray. which is preferably arcuate in plan view, and formed of any suitable material, such as The marginal edge of the tray is turned up at 11, and then down at 12, thus forming a. vertical surrounding flange, and onek which rounded 'on its upper portion. All of the corners of the tray are rounded, as at 13, to

obviate the formation of angles to collect scraps of food which would decay, and render the tray unclean and unsanitary. cured to the top of the tray, at points adjacent the center of the inner curved edge thereof, are the hook clamps, 14 which are adapted to engage over the edge of the plate 15 disposed on the tray. On the tray, at the center of the outer curved edge there is secured a plate 16, from which extends a vertical screw shank or bolt 17. A hook clamp 18 has its 'horizontal portion formed with an elongated slot 19, and disposed thro-ugh this slots is the said screw 17, a winged nut 20 being engaged on the end thereof to clamp the hook in different positions longitudinally on the said plate. By this construction, plates of different diameters can be edectively clamped on the tray.
On the rear of the tray, centrally of the inner curved edge is secured a ring 21, and connected to this ring is a chain 22. The other end of the chain is provided with a coil spring 23, to which is attached a chain section 24, for adjustable engagement with a hook 25 secured to the outer edge o-f the tray. The spring is adjustable for the pur'- pose of loosening or tightening the chain.
This chain is passed under the table or tray of the ordinary high chair to hold the tray firmly to the table. Thus the tray can be quickly and when it is to be cleaned, which may be done when the dishes are to be washed.
lVhat is claimed is:
The combination with the tray of a high chair, of a removable tray therefor including a per-ipherally flanged plate disposed on the chair tray, a ring secured in one side of said flange, a hook secured in the opposite side of the flange, a chain carried by the ring and passed beneath the chair tray and having its outer end links interchangeably engageable with said hook, said chain having a coil interposed therein.
In testimony whereof, I aiiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
