To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ROBERT KLINE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mop-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in mop-holders, and more particularly that type or class adapted to be used by the hand in washing and cleansing small household vessels, such as kitchen utensils and the like, the present invention being specially designed for use as a mop-holder for use in the washing and cleansing of bath-tubs, and with this end in view is provided with a hooked handle adapted to take overthe upper marginal rim of the bath-tub whereby the holder may be readily suspended outside of the bath-tub when not in use.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a generally improved article of this class, of simple, cheap, and efficient construction, better adapted to its intended purposes than any other device of the same class with which I am acquainted.

With the above mentioned ends in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in one of its embodiments in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1, is a perspective view of a mop-holder constructed in accordance with this invention in operative engagement with a mop-cloth preparatory to use. Fig. 2, a top plan view of the same with the mop-cloth removed, the clamping member being shown in clamping engagement with the adjacent loop-head. Fig. 3, a top plan view of the same with the clamping member in released position.

Similar numerals of reference designate like parts throughout all the figures of the drawings.

The improved mop-holder is preferably formed of a single length of spring wire bent upon itself and twisted, forming a handle 1, terminating at one end in a hook 2, and at the other in a mop-cloth holding loop-head 3, and a cooperating mop-cloth clamping member to be now described.

The cooperating clamping member comprises a plurality of spring loop members consisting of a main median loop 4, adapted to rest above and project beyond the front of the loop-head and terminating at its sides in spring loop members 5, adapted to support the intermediate portions of the mopcloth when clamped in position, as hereinafter described. The spring loop members 5, terminate in side members 6, provided at their front and rear ends with projecting nose portions 5 and 6*, said nose portions being adapted to be pressed beneath and to engage the adjacent portions of the loophead 4:, when in clamping engagement as illustrated most clearly in Fig. 2, of the drawings. In use the mop-cloth is preferably folded in suitable form to cover the loop-head 4, and is inserted between the latter and the adjacent clamping member when these parts are in open position as indicated in Fig. 3, of the drawings, after which the nose portions 5 and 6, of the clamping spring loop members are pressed within and beneath the loop-head 4, the resiliency in the spring members 5, and 6, permitting of the neces-.

sary movements in the nose portions during this operation and when the nose portions are pressed beneath the loop-head 4:, they will return to their original position as indicated in Fig. 2, and into clamping engagement with the mop-cloth as indicated in Fig. 1, of the drawings. When in this position, it will be observed that the spring loop members will act to support the intermediate portions of the mop-cloth and will hold the same slightly below the horizontal plane of the loop-head and will thus act as cushioning members for the intermediate portions of the mop-cloth in the mopping operation when the mop-holder is in use.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,

1. A mop-holder, comprising a loop-head and a cooperating clamping member consisting of spring loop members opposed to said loop-head on one side thereof and terminating in side members provided with nose portions adapted to be pressed beneath and to engage the other side of said loop-head.

2. A mop-holder, comprising a single length of wire bent upon itself and twisted forming a hooked handle at one end and thereof consisting of a plurality of spring loop members having projecting nose portions adapted to be pressed into clamping Engagement with the other side of said 1oopead.

3. A mop-holder, comprising a mop-cloth holding loop-head and a clamping member lying on one side of said loop-head and consisting of a main loop extending beyond'the members having projecting nose portions 15 adapted to be pressed beneath and to-engage the adjacent portions of the opposite side of said loop-head When in clamping position.
