Be it known that l, ELIZABETH M. SUTH- nnLnND, a citizen ot the United States of America, residing at Kansas City, 1n the State o Missouri,

As a garment hanger, the invention seeks to provide, as its principal object, a device of this kind having two T-shaped members hingedly connected together and a tlat ll-shaped spring partly surrounding the hinged connection and bearing upon the two members, this spring tending to keep those ends of the members composing the cross legs oi' the Ts in contact with each other.

il further object of the invention is to provide means for attaching the V-shaped spring in such a way that it maybe easily detached without the disengagement of the two members, thereby providing means Jfor the convenient replacing of a tired or damaged spring with a new one.

A still further object makes provision for the inversion of the \l-shaped spring to hold the 'lV-shaped members normally apart, so that a garment may be supported vice in a manner similar to the way in which the garment is supported on the body, this arrangement being conducive to the drying oit the garment, should it be damp or wet.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind which is simple in construction, durable and eective in operation and which may be manufactured at low cost.

Still other and further objects will appear as the invention is set forth in detail in the description which follows.

Referring to the drawings, the invention is shown in the application or' securing the i i skirt l, so that the latter may be convenient y hung in a wardrobe or cupboard without exposing it to the danger of being wrinkled.

The hanger by which the skirt is hung comprises two T-shaped members Q and 3, the cross legs l of which constitute clamping jaws for the skirt, or trousers, or whatever other piece of wearing apparel it is desired to hang neatly in a cupboard.

Beginning at points just above the ears 5 and 6, these two upper ends diverge, the upper end of member 2 terminating at a suitable point above the ears to leave the said upper end a suitable length to permit the member to have its lower jaw separated from the lower jaw of the member 3 by pressure exerted by the finger on the upper end. The upper end of the vertical leg of the member 3 exceeds the length of the upper end of the member 2 by a sufficient amount to permit the forming thereon of a hook 8 by means of which the device as a whole may be conveniently hung on the hook of the wardrobe.
