SCREEN-DOOR ATTACHMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept. 17, 1918.
Application vfiled January 22, 1918. Serial No. 213,186.
To all whom t may concern:
Beit known that I, GEORGE B. Fnosfr, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screen- Door Attachments, of which the following is a specication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a screen door brace and has for its object the production of a simple and efficient brace which is formed from a single sheet of metal and which may be conveniently attached to a screen door frame and adjusted thereon for the purpose of preventing the sagging of the frame.
Another object of this invention is the production of a simple and eflicient means for facilitating the attachment of the brace to the door frame.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a View in side elevation .of a
screen door brace constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the upper end of the screen door brace.
Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the lower end of the screen brace.
By referring to the drawings it will be seen that 1 designates the frame of the screen door which is provided with a transversely extending rail or brace 2.
The brace 3 is provided with a folded under portion 4 which terminates in a laterally bent end 5. Suitable slots 6 are formed in the laterally bent end 5 and these slots terminate at one end in the enlarged circular apertures 7 for the purpose of permitting the heads of the securing screws 8 to Copies of this pass therethrough and allow the screws to lit within the slots 6. The lower end of the brace V3 is provided with an angularly eX- tending foot 9 which is folded over as kindicated by the numeral 10, and terminates in a .a
depending tongue 11. This tongue ll is provided with a longitudinally extending slot l2 having suitable notches 13 formed in one side thereof to permit the heads -of the screws 8 to pass therethrough and allow the l screws to pass through the slot l2 and firmly bind the brace inengagement with the frame of the door. The flange 5 as well as the depen ding end 11 are adapted to lie flat against the outer face of the frame 1 of the door.
It will be noted that the longitudinally extending slot l2, is so made or formed for the purpose of permitting the brace to be moved forward, as desired, without removing the fastening screws 8.
From Vthe foregoing description it will be seen that a very simple and eficient means has been produced for firmly and efliciently bracing a screen door and thereby holding the same against sagging. This brace may be adjusted upon the screws by moving the brace for causing the slots 6 and l2 to be placed in the desired position.
What I claim is:
As a new article of manufacture, a screen door brace, comprising a body, formed from a single piece of material, said body being folded near its ends and part of the folded portions of the body lying parallel with said body and the eXtreme ends of the body so folded being positioned at right-angles to said body for engaging the face of a door frame, and one of said right-angularly disposed ends of the body provided with parallel slots, and the other right-angularly disposed end provided with an elongated slot1 having a pair of notches in its sides.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afhX my signature.
GEORGE B. FROST.
