Description
L. A. ANDERSON.
COLLAR FASIENEH. APPLICATION FILED FEB.'H.19!8.
1,277,168. Patented Aug. 27, 1918 INVENTOR UNITED STATES PATENT curios.
LOUIS A. ANDERSON, or AT'ILEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE B & G
COMPANY, or ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS.
I COLLAR-FASTENER.
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have in-- vented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Fasteners, of which the fol lowing is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
My invention relates to collar fasteners with particular reference to separable fasteners.
Its object is to provide means for fastening collars around the neck without the requirement of button holes therefor. The fastener is equally useful and efficient for holding the wings of collars and mufilers, sashes 0r belts.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a View of my fastener in front elevation and in open position. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same in closed position.
Like characters denote like parts in. all the figures.
My device consists of a hollow bar land the pins 2. The ends of the barare turned slightly inward forming an annular rib 3 within each orifice. Slits 4: are cut in the bar and through the ribs in order to render the bar elastic at that point. The pins are of the common form having a head and pointed stem, and are of a suitable size to be inserted snugly into the bar, one in each end. Each pin-stem is fitted with an annular recess 5 which cooperates with the rib v3 to form a stop when the pins are inserted in the bar and pressed into the closed posi- Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug, 2Q, 1918. Application filed February 11, 1918. Serial No. 216,628.
; .tion. A' suitable space is left between the recess and the pin-head to'be occupied by 'the collar or other material to be held by the fastener. I
To operate my device it is only necessary to press the pins through the collar or other.
material at the desired point andthen by insertlng the pin-points into the open ends of the bar topush them together until the fastener is in closed position- The stop formed by the annular .ribs and recesses at the closed position also serves as a safety check againstthe accidental removal of the pins or opening of the fastener.
Having described my invention what I claim is- 1. The combination of a hollow bar; internal annular ribs therein adjacent the bar ends, the bar having slits opening from each bar end'through the adjacent ribs; pins fitted. with annular recesses adjacent the pin head and adapted to enter the opposite ends of the bar separately and engage its recess with the adjacent rib. V
2. A hollow bar; finger extensions from each end thereof; flanges on the ends of the fingers; pins fitted with annular recesses adapted to enter the open ends of the bar separately and. make engagement of the fin ger flanges with the annular recesses.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in the presence oftwo witnesses Witnesses:
