Extending between the arm holes 15 and joining the shoulder and back, sections is a transverse seam a desirably inclining downwardly from the arm holes to the vertical seam Z), the seam a as shown being substantially of a V shape. e
As is well known, it is customary when fitting the usual coat to rip olf the collar, and then the shoulder seams, as I), are sub- Specification of Letters Patent.

From the foregoing, it will be apparent that the seam a permits the material to be quickly and accurately fitted to the contour of shoulders, and adjustment of the seam creadily compensatesfor any inaccuracy in the sections, in a .direction' away es; 9r flar r e' y W degree of being oidihang of the coat at the front 'or back,
and since none of these operations require 7 much skill or expenditure of time and labor a cheaper and better product is thus obtained. The essential elements and features of the article, together with its simplicity and other advantages thereof, will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art.
I do not intend to restrict myself to the precise arrangement of the parts, as it is obvious that variations thereof may be made without in any way departing from the spirit and scope of my invention as pointed out in the appended claims.
Having thus describedmy invention, and illustrated its use, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is the fol- 1. In a garment, the combination of a coat body member having a fixed collar piece and upper and lower back sections, and a transverse inclined back seam connecting the a the bottom edge of the body member, said seam having a portion thereof capable of adjustment to maintain the alinement of the '7 bottom edge of the back section upon adjustment ofthe back seam.
2. In' a garment, the combination of a coat body member having a fixed collar piece and a back portion comprising upper and lower back sections, a transverse back seam connecting the sections, a side section connected at one marginal edge portion to both the back sections above and below said transverse seam, a front section, a substantially vertical seam connecting the front section to the other marginal edge of the side section, the said back sections being adjustable with reference to each other along the line of the transverse seam without ripping OK the collar piece and thefront and side ing a pair of upper and a of the coat body, side sections extending in front of the arm holes and each connected at one marginal edge to the back sections above and below said transverse seam, front sections therefor, each adjustably connected to the other marginal edge of its adjacent side sections, and a collar piece fixedly connecting the top edge portions of the front and side sections and the upper back sections, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
4:. In a garment of the character described, the combination of a coat body member hav- 7 air of lower back sections; a back seam 'or connecting the upper pair of back sections to the lower pair along a downwardly directed V-shaped line extending intermediate the arm holes of said body member and adjustable therealong, a substantially vertical seam connecting the inner marginal edges of both pairs of sections and extending through the apex of said V-shaped back seam, said body member being provided with front portions adj ustably connected with the outer side edges of one or more of the pairs of back sections below said V-shaped back seam; and a collar piece fixedly associated with said pair of upper back sections and said front sections, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed by name in the presence of the two subscribed witnesses.
JOHN ANTONELLI.
