IMPROVEMENT IN HOLDERS FOR SECTIONAL LAMP-CHEMNEVS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,603, dated June 4,1872.
To all whom-it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES T. HAUGHEY, of Wabash, in the county of Wabash and State of Indiana, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Combined Lamp-Chimney Holder and Chimney, and I dohereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this 'A represents a chimney-holder, secured to the top of a lamp in the ordinary manner. This holder has at its upper end a semicircular flange or cap, marked B, having a recessed cavity in the shape of a convex molding, as shown in the drawing. 0 represents the pivoted or hinged cap, attached to the side piece a by means of the pin 12 and coil-spring c, as shown in the drawing. This spring 0 is coiled around the pin 1) and secured to the upper and lower plates of hinge, as shown. At the middle point of said wire a portion thereof is bent downward into the form of a loop or lug, so as to stifl'en the spring and thereby keep the cap in a proper position. The cap 0 is also provided with a cavity similar to that of cap B, to receive the lower end of a lamp-chimney, as shown in Fig. 1. D represents the glass'chimney, made in two sections, to allow for contraction and expansion of the glass. The lower end of the chimney D has a curved bottom, 0,

I claim as my invention- The chimney-holder, consisting of the convex cap B,the hinged cap 0, and the coiled spring 0, in combination with a lamp-chimney, constructed in sections and having a curved bottom, substantially as specified.
