IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-CHIIVINEYS.
Specification forming part 0f Letters Patent No. 56,999, dated August 7, 1866. r
To all whom t 'may concern.'v
Be it known that I, EJLERT O. SCHARTAN, of Philadelphia city, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Glass Jointed Ghimney'for Gil-Lamps 5 and I do hereby declare the following to be an exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and t0 the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention is making the glass chimneyin two parts, divided and jointed near the center, the lower part having a flan ge for the upper half to rest on, the upper half having a collar and shoulder to fit into and upon the lower half.
A represents the cone top of glass chimney, with a shoulder, B, to rest upon the iange C of the lower half, D, the lower part, E, itting into the lower half, D, of the glass chimney. The object is to use the lower half, D, at any time to boil or heat a cup of water by remov-` ing the top A.
The chimney, being in two parts, is not liable to crack with the heat ofthe lamp, as the ordinary glass chimney, and if' the top or- EJLERT O. SCHARTAN.
