UNITED STATES PATENTOFFICE- FRED c.7mnunncx, or-nAsKE L,

1 To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED O.7Mnunnck, a citizen of 7 the United States, residing at Haskell, inthe county of Haskell andState of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'licket Distributers, of which the following is a specification. 7
This invention relates to ticket distributers, and more particularly to a distributing case or file for assorting or distributing tickets in telephone offices and similar estab-7 lishments for the purpose of assisting the accountant in keeping track of thevarious calls made and charges. V
One of the main objects of the invention is to provide a distributer of the character stated of simple construction and operation Which may heproduced at very small cost.
to receive slips or tickets upon which the mucus charges are entered so as to permit the same to be filed in consecutive order in 7 such condition as to enable entries to be made quickly and easily in the account distributer in chronological, alphabetical, 01'
Further objects 7 any other desired order. will appear from the detail description.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a top plan view ofa distrib uter constructed in accordance with my in vention, 7 1
Fig. 2 is a detail top plan view of the indicating roll or cylinder, 7 7 1 Fig. 3 is a fragmentary front viewof the distributer, and,
Fig. 4: is a transverse sectional view taken substantially on line 4L-4 of Fig. 1.
The distributer comprises broadly, a rectangular body having a supporting casing at the upper edge of its back wall provided with a longitudinally extending slot, and an indicator roller or cylinder mounted in this casing for rotary adjustment and provided on its surface with indicating characters so spaced, and of such size, as to register with the compartments of the distributor and be visible through the slot of the casing. numeral designates the bottomof the body 7 of the casing which is providedwith the back Wall 2 disposed at right anglesthereto.
The metal isbent atthe upper edge of wall vided,"through7its inner face, with a longitudinally extending slot 5 which extends the full length of the casing.7
7 A; plurality of sheet metal partition members 6 are secured in the body 1 of the dis- 1 ,tributer, these: inembersserving to provide a series of compartments 6 adapted toreceive the usual slips or tickets upon which are marked the calls made orreceivedat the par- 1 ticular telephone oflice in which the device is A further object is to provide a distributer having a plurality of compartments adapted used: a d: the charge 'forsuchI call B P i ng a suitable indicator for designating each compartment (i to correspond with j a day of the month,a week day, or aletter of the alphabet, orthelike, the various slips ortickets may be filed inthe indicator according to the date or day on which the call marked on the ticket isreceived. By this means the tickets, as the various calls are recelved, are filed away and assorted so that 7 these chargesmay be quickly and easilyentered in the account books. By this means,
the delay incident to assorting these slips 7 or tickets when placed to 'ether on a desk file, onthe like, as is now tie common practice, is avoided. 7 77 7 7 j 7 An indicating rolleror cylinder 7 is rota- 7 tably mounted in casing 3. This roller is provided, at one end, with a central stubf 8.
1 This stub is adapted to fit snugly through an aperturein an inclined brace and end plate :1Qwhichissecured to the end plate 1 of the distributer and extends across one end of easing 3. The other end of casing 3 is closed by a cap 10 which is secured to the shaft 11 atthe other end of cylinder 7. By this means, when the cylinder is in position with a 7 fourth series D consists of the letters of the ments e will'be marked to correspond with alphabet. I In each of these series, the characters are so spaced as to correspond to the spacing of the compartments 6 and these characters are of somewhat less height than the width of slot 5 of easing 3 By this means, by rotating the cylinder 7 any de sired series of characters may be exposed through slot 5, these characters serving as an index or mark for some or all of the compartments of the distributer.
'For the purpose of rotating cylinder 7, a knurled finger knob 12 is secured on the Outer end of shaft 11. This knob is provided witha reduced neck 13. A leaf spring 14: is secured at its inner end to the top of easing A block .15 is secured on the outer end of the spring and is adapted to "engage about the upper portion of reduced neck 13 of knob 12. The spring 14: acts to force block 15 into close frictional engagement with the neck of the knob, thus securing the cylinder? in rotary adjustment. In
' addition, this block engages between the knob 12 and the annular shoulder 18 at the I inner end of neck 18, thus securing the cylincharacters opposite the slot-5 of easing 3 the compartments 6 of the distributor will be numbered consecutively to correspond to the days of the month. By securing the cylinder inrotary adjustment so as to bring any of the other series of the indicating characters opposite the slot 5 some of the compartthe months of the year, days of the week, or letters of the alphabet. It will be evident that there may be slight changes in the construction and arrangement of the various parts of my invention without. departing from the field and scope. of the' same, and I Copies of this patent may be obtained for desire to include all such changes, as fall within the scope of the appended claims, in this application in which a preferred form only of my invention is disclosed.
What I claim is 1. A ticket distributer having a rectangular body formed from a continuous piece of material and provided with a cylindrical casing at the upper edge of the back wall of said body and extending the full length thereof and having a longitudinally extending slot, a plurality of spaced partition members secured in said body and forming a series of ticket receiving compartments, an indicating cylinder mounted in said casing and provided with a series of indicating characters adapted to be brought into register with said compartments, and means carried by the casing and engaging with said cylinder for securing the cylinder in rotary adjustment and normally preventing axial movement of the samein either direction.
2. A ticket distributor having a rectangular body formed from acontinuous piece of sheet material, the upper edgeportion of the back of said body being turned downward and inward to provide a cylindrical casing at the upper edge of the back and extending the full length of the body, said casing having a slot extending the full length thereof and positioned in the front of the casing, a plurality of spaced partition members secured in'said body and forming a series of ticket receiving compartments, an indicating cylinder mounted in said casing for rotary adjustni'ent and provided with a series of indicating characters of such size as to be visible through said slot and so spaced as to be brought into register with the ticket compartments when the cylinder is rotated, and means for securing said cylinder in rotary adjustment.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
