CORRESPONDENCE-REMINDER. l
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented dan. 25, 19MB..
Application led August 19, 1912. Serial No. 715,955. l
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, RALPH WILLIAM SMILEY, of the city of New York, in the countyV of New York, and in the Sta-te of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Correspondence-Reof a calendar, and particularly one for a relatively short period, such as a month or a Week; a legend on such calendar suggesting that the person looking at the calendar Write to the person who issued it; and a means of carrying out the suggestion, such as a post card attached to the calendar. And to such ends my invention consists in the correspondence reminder hereinafter specified.
The embodiment which I have chosen for illustrating it is to be regarded as typical only, and my invention is not to be restricted thereto. y
In the accompanying drawing the figure represents one leaf of a monthly reminder embodying my invention.`
Such embodiment consists of a separate leaf 1 for each yweek or month. Each leaf has. printed or otherwise placed thereon the calendar 2 :of its particular month. It also has aA legendv 3 suggesting that the person reading the calendar write to some person. rllhere is also attached to the leaf a means of carrying out the suggestion, such as a post card 4,'which may be integral with the leaf 1 and conveniently partiallyseparated by a line of scoring 5.
The illustrated embodiment is intended for use such, for instance, as for a parent to give to a youth away from home at college. When the youth would refer to the calendar to learn the day ofthe month, the legend would probably catch his eye.l As the calendar would have been given to the youth by the parent, the legend suggesting Writing would call the parent to his mind. The post card, ready to be detached and used in carry-- i'ng out the suggestion, Would afford so convenient a means of carrying out the suggestion that it is much more likely the youth in `question would follow the suggestion than if the means for carrying it out were not thus provided.
The legend of my correspondence reminder could be used for advertising purposes suggesting, for instance, that the reader order the device advertised by means of the post card.
Claims:
1L The combination of a series of leaves having successive calendars thereon, each leaf having a legend thereon suggesting the Writing of a. message, and a post card integral with but detachable from each of said leaves.
2. A correspondence reminder consisting ofthe combination of aseries of leaves, each` message, and a post card integral with but detachable with said leaves.
Intestimony that I claim the, foregoing I have hereunto set my hand.
RALPH WILLIAM SMILEY.
